I find this so confusing I'd be tempted to go with what the sprayer says for fear of the truth even if that is, "boss was away someone mucked this up (unsupervised) tried to recover it, but as it happens there was an existing fault."
Why to me , adding to conspiracy, the top image looks like the frame has been shot right through and badly filled idn.
It's sad it's just a bunch of images of a bad job experience would have you see that a mile off -

It could have been "pro cook" store , they did an unbelievable deal that was like they had 3m units to shift before Christmas, but it went on for ages. For no good reason I use russums (will edit) online

white is a funny beast, there's nothing that's a massive guaranteed advantage , I put that down to the pigment being titanium dioxide sounds expensive (as crazy as it sounds one thing the bridging coat will do is make the wall less thirsty= less paint used on the top/colour coats) I wouldn't worry about opacity. The tikkurila mentioned above is excellent in situation of dual natural lighting/ particularly awful ceiling surfaces, it somehow works on the texture it gives thus if used as a mist on filler it will horrendously flash the texture through especially if using a finish specific paint (f&b)
