I used to come up wightman (from clissold park) to take the left on to hornsey high st where I ~live but it feels so aggro and so narrow for 2 way traffic.
Oliver’s knowledge of London road layouts never ceases to amaze.

Is someone else using the network? Ours is significantly down when my partner is watching YouTube. Splitting the networks helped a lot, still feels like we get periods of terrible slowness. I’ve been considering getting a new router to try and solve it

It’s a bit like roundabouts - you might have right of way but if someone on your left is already on the roundabout you don’t have the right to blast into/ past them. It’s just good driving/ riding.
You ride a motorbike don’t you? I’d imagine that also really makes you tune into the defacto if not written rules

It’s worth noting van drivers (and car drivers) are often aggressive to everyone, drivers and cyclists, especially in London. Sometimes it’s not targeted to a cyclist it’s just the way they drive. As bad as that is.
I know aggressive riding is often a response to negligent and aggressive drivers, and part of asserting yourself on the road, but I makes me really anxious when I see cyclists do things that are obviously just bad for a well functioning traffic mix. Stuff they can (physically) do but definitely shouldn’t. I saw 2 cyclists come up the inside of a white van immediately before a left turn they wanted to take, by clissold park, with railings on the edge of the pavement. It was so so tight like obviously so dangerous and would have benefitted them single digit seconds. The van late indicated and the lead cyclist was lucky not to get crunched.
I’ve done stupid stuff just in the interest of saving time because I could nip through, cutting inside cars to turn left and the like, and it’s not really an excuse, and I’m not being a good road user. So I guess I’m calling myself out and trying to do better

I’m a wide 8 in proper leather shoes, 9 in trainers, I wonder is 42 going to be bang on then (true) or too large... when you say regular shoes are you taking trainers?

London Fixed Gear and Single-Speed is a community of fixed gear and single-speed cyclists.
I have the older one. I meant to send it back as it’s the 1st Gen with the bad straps, but it’s been a while so I may just start using again. The current one has better straps.
Anyway the size is very good for wallet, couple bars, wind jacket, phone, keys, key sundry tools. I got a sandwich cut in half in there before.
The construction is good and the material very good, the pink lining is nice to finding things. I wish it sat more forward than under because of my cables - canister bag would probably be nicer there. Never ever used the shoulder strap.
Those canister bags I think are one big pocket? It’s nice to have a slim front pocket on the rapha bag, and the main pocket has a couple organiser pouches.
30 quid is a bargain to be honest
