Super pleased with the long flap roll top on this. He added a little pocket in the flap which is great for my pass, I love the poppers to hold the roll in, the side pocket clips are magic, carry handle is really nice to have, bright orange liner is supr,
all the execution is on point, fit is perfect, and at this point I'd like to thank @Tijmen for his patience - i came at this with quite a few ideas of what I'd like to see in a bag, which i drip fed him over a couple months. To quote from an email
Please don’t take this the wrong way, but you have a talent for asking for complicated things.
about a feature I'll leave him to say if he wants to offer.

Box arrived from Wit Slingers in Germany this morning just as I was about to leave for work
I am excite opening this box
@Tijmen has hit the mark. I sold my wonderful carradice on Monday, had a backpack commute (did not like) on Tuesday, and got to quickly set this up today. I’m going to take some proper pictures on my Faran with the framebag down the line, but for now have these

Orange mason, stickered frame pump coming up the cally this am, @monkdagola?

Tall version of the Faran have the same length seat tube, but 3cm taller headtube, so the stack is greater but reach only slightly less. It’s the same as 3cm of spacers. I have a T and I like it
It’s a great bike. Tonne of clearance - pictures in the design notes, nicely made, the top tube I really like, I think the uni crown fork is well done, and now that they have switched to button head screws like I did, the multitude of mounts isn’t so bad. I wish the current colours were available when I got mine, the moss green is so much nicer than my green
If you want a carbon fork down the line the options are limited.

The heart wants what the heart wants, and Fairlight doesn’t exude romance, but in regular size the top tube is actually more towards horizontal than the crust, and I quite like the ovalised/ flattened cross section of it, it looks ‘lighter’ to me. No arguments about the downtube. I just think the fairlight is a better bike than the crust but I’ll stop going on about it now

I’m catching up on posts here, but I have the pre-cursor to that - squier double fat telecaster delux, make in Korea by Cort. Coil tap on the tone knob, set neck, the pick ups aren’t great but it feels lovely and is quite light.
It’s in black with a sparkle, all black hardware and uncovered pickups. I’d like to switch to nickel bridge and tuners and some covered pickups maybe next year.
I can’t believe someone wants to take that finish off but yeah I think they are around £700 so make it like you want I guess. IIRC they have a special reverse-wound, hotter SD pearly gates in the bridge

Having a nice holiday and not worrying is the most important thing. Bar none. What you believe it more important that some technical thing too, otherwise you will worry the whole way.
So the 6603 has a 74bcd inner and 130 outer so could do 26/ 38 I think. An option if you want.
You also actually said to me on here how 650 helps with ratios, but now I have my CAAD I could spare my 700 wheelset if you needed.
I just really want you to take a Faran on such a cool trip
-
Why not the Faran? It’s ready for front loading, you’ve got the dynamo on it already and a sun-compact?
Also on the crankset front: if you take 165mm I have a 6603 you can do the amey/ lolo special on. I even have the 30/ 46/ chain guard rings for it.
Those aside: amazing trip to have planned, very jealous

I will be selling my rough stuff super c as I have a Witslingers bag coming, if you want something bigger than the audax. Carradice SQR stuff is amazingly functional but ugly.
I was also surprised how easy PDW guards are to go on - I had to drill the rear for the seatstay bridge and that was by far the hardest part.
There’s tape for protecting paint from straps and rubbing. I think this deserves a nicer frame bag, given how nice it is

Right? the colours were decided before I bought the caad, designed around the Faran. We had some discussions about materials he could get in but seeing @Hulsroy bag went with the cayenne and it's great.
@Hulsroy - you're right, I will think of something
