looking forward to it @fasih @Sifta @hamrack @Oliver Schick etc...
I have started a thread with some freecycle/swappie bits I am planning to bring tomorrow - happy to give/swap everything there as I am in the midst of a clearout, but also have more, so PM for any specific requests for bars, saddles or brake levers, as I seem to have accumulated quite a lot at the moment. Most importantly, santa's moustache ;)

Have a few random bits to clearout, so I'll use the opportunity to try to lure people to West's Christmas drinks , so the strong preference is for handover at the Grand Junction Arms, sometime 6:30-8.
Most will be free, some I wouldn't mind getting a swap for, so bring something else you have that is marginally useful to trade ;) Dibs is useful so I know what to bring, but I won't save things for after drinks, so whoever turns up there will have right of first refusal.Free bits

Santa's Moustache (bars). I have a few of these - the scratched one can go free but I might want a trade for the nicer ones. They are quite narrow, and not like any other bars I've ridden with.

quill stem adapter for 1 1/8" to 1 1/4" - if you are wondering if this is the size you need, it probably isn't. I bought it by accident, and have never used it. Because it doesn't fit anything sensible you would want to use it for.

another seemingly useless item?! not sure I have seen any 1 1/8" threaded forks anytime in the last decade (maybe for MTB), but I've got 2 headsets for that inevitable crisis of finding such forks, so I reckon I can spare one!

random quill stem fits 1" forks and normal (not OS) bars. (Sierra Nevada not included)

old school pedals with reflectors - can't make out any details.

gel saddle-cover thing, supposedly for the laydeez - not sure why, as I am told it is about as comfortable as cycling on a waterbed.Secret Santa Swap items
I am willing to trade most of these for items of similar value - I had in mind the £5 secret santa spending limit for those of us who work in that kind of dreary office environment ;)

Santa's little helper3TTT forgie stem, I can't remember exactly but I think it's 130mm. Never used or even fitted. Just didn't feel appropriate.
BNIB Subrosa transparent charcoal grips (would happily trade for used track grips)

Lyotard pedals - one end cap missing
BNIB Bell ladies helmet

Selle San Marco ProVIP L? unused
rubbery saddle with 25.4 seatpostAlso have a couple of strange huge saddles, which I can't imagine being of use to anyone (except in a post-operative or therapeutic capacity?) but I would happily trade them:

As stated before, first refusal goes to those who will be at West beers tomorrow, but dibs if you want something in particular, so I am sure to bring it (may not bother with bars otherwise). Hoping this will drum up some interest in swapping bits (looking at you @hamrack @ChewyCheeks @fasih ).

gussets coming along, as well as other bits necessary for the build, but need to get hold of some harsh chemical stripper (dichloromethane - way harsh) to take off original paint before attaching them, as I don't think blasting will be good for the frame. Unfortunately, too many other things conspiring against me making enough progress to report fully :P

mine is probably repainted anyways, so that may not be relevant... Except that the colour scheme did seem more frequent on Carre frames of that era, so mine was probably just someone trying to cheaply imitate the other . The fast back seat stays are actually less common for Carre than the track frame's swept back ones (if it is him).
Probably not as similar as I first thought, as the only actual "similarity" is the lugs, which isn't really saying anything!

I did a double-take when I saw that!!
@Vince this is like the mystery bike you sold me about a year ago:
It is built up with a campag group at the moment for a slightly more period appropriate look (apologies for the abysmal photo)
I would have said the seatpost cluster, RGB lugs and identical orange-yellow fadez suggest it's at least passed through the same hands if it isn't Carré built. On the other hand the threads are British, though it could have been rethreaded... -

just popped into Condor on Gray's Inn to find some of the brightly coloured track grips they had on sale a few weeks back (no luck - anyone have some for sale?) and noticed they had these fuchsia fizik vs saddles marked down from something obscene to £25:

not sure if its of any use to someone, but they looked like quite a good deal - also a lot of clothes and gloves reduced as well... -

I've wondered about DIY lug-lining as well, but I can't help thinking that the "real lug-lining pens" are only usable by professionals. The construction of the "nib" (coming at it from the perspective of having done caligraphy) means you have to have a super-steady hand to get a consistent line. I would have thought your average person could get decent results with a normal tipped marker, but then you have to do more research around what will be the right type of permanent ink/paint.
I had a nervex lugged frame I was going to lug-line with a silver marker like this (but I sold it before getting round to it):but I am not sure if you could get a similar thing for non-metallic colours. I am planning to have a go at this sometime in the next few months, but waiting on the right frame. I back myself on the steady hand (bc of calligraphy) but I think the right pen is the vital issue. I would love to have a crack with a proper lug-liner, but I would be concerned about similar line thickness issues. Let me know what solution you come up with...

Sorry folks... Very busy these days- currently writing this from a refugee camp in Lebanon, having arrived about an hour after the bomb attack here on Thursday (puts bike shenanigans in perspective, as I am sure many have been thinking while digesting the Paris attacks)
I haven't given up on the project so I'll just post a little picture here to prove I haven't let the dream die 😉
Opinions on cinelli alter stem?
