Building a geared beater from a freecycled GT cirque. Parts bin build to see if its just a bit big or too big. Will get fatter tyres and possibly a rack if I commit to this frame, if its too big I will look for a frame in my usual size (53-55) and transfer the parts.

The stems I´ve tried to fit have all gone in very reluctantly so I figured it was a french sized fork that some prevuos owner had forced a bsc headset on. I spent a coulpe of months tracking down a french sized headset and finaly got this from troc-velo.com:

I tried fitting it but the treads wouldnt engage, got my calipers out and measured, the steerer diam is 22.1 mm. Cleaned it out, greased the stem and it fitted like a glove. Dont know if I can be arsed to get a zeus BSC headset, I have already spent too much money on bike stuff this month, and this wasnt supposed to be a full zeus build.

Since this wasnt supposed to be a full zeus build I recently bought not one, but two rear zeus track hubs :) The high flange one is laced to a 650c Mavic mach 2 cd 2 rim so I will delace it and sell the rim.

Sorry for the late reply. Just got a 50t chainring so I might use the 18t cog with that. Plus I live in sweden so the postage might be a bit steep.

Well things are moving forward, finaly got the right rims (Hubjub mixed up my order so I had to go to Copenhagen to switch packages with some poor guy). Built them up only to realise the valveplacement was wrong on both wheels so I had to do it again...

Can this be fixed by cold setting the frame?


To me it looks like the tubes are bent at/near the right dropout and that the rest of the frame is straight.

The SP dynamos only come in QR, so the little red things are to provide mudguard mounts because p-clips would have looked really obvious on such a small fork.

Where did you find "the little red things" and what are they called? Been looking for something similar for a while.

Hmm, those lugs look even more intricate than the Zeus ones:

I thought they looked simmilar in the prvious photos. And Zeus bb shells typically have two slots like this: Although there are exceptions. So its probably not a Zeus, sorry.
