Surly Cross Check - general thoughts? Been offered one for £450 and am looking to build it back up as a gravel smasher.
Seems like it might fit the bill if not being exactly on the money. How do you imagine it would work? Should i be looking to spend my money on a different bike in the Surly range instead maybe?

Hello squad,
Looking to get hold of something of a do-it-all bike that can be used for commuting/food shop whilst in town but with some scope for light touring too.
Frame and fork or full bike - either would be just fine as long as they are in a reasonable condition.
Preference for steel. Front loading/decent porteur capabilities so low trail geometry.
I'm 6'2 so looking at 60cm
Obviously plenty of great choices out there - things like the Soma GR/Surly's etc but can't afford to drop £1500 on a brand new steed so anyone got anything that might fit the bill? Something lurking in the back of the shed that just isn't justifying its space in there any more?
My budget is tight but not ridiculously so! Let's see what's out there.
Thanks.

Looking for a new project at the moment and came across a Gios Evolution Compact Pro frame and forks on ebay. Total novice to the Gios world but having read through this thread - they are some mighty fine looking bikes!
Appear to be pretty sound structurally but the paint has seen far better days.
Worth a punt? Or is this a frameset that I should leave alone? Any help would be well received!

Despite my best efforts to shrink to be able to fit this bike it has been no good. Was going to strip it, repaint it and turn it into a nifty little 1x but alas it isn't meant to be - so I have this 19 inch mid 1995 Marin Eldridge Grade for sale.
Brilliant double butted frame
CroMo Marin Rock Star Forks
Marin cold forged stem (dust cap is missing)
Deore LX groupset apart from cranks which have been replaced with some Suntours
Smooth Marin headset
Mavic M400 26ers. Front is on LX and the rear on Deore XTThe shifting on the rear is super smooth, very good at the front but needs a little tinkering with to cajole it onto the big ring - no big job.
Brakes are also grand. On the whole it's in good condition. Little spots of rust as shown in the pictures and there is a small dent in the top tube which, based on the quality of the Eldridge Grade, shouldn't be a cause for concern - they are light and bombproof.
Looking around 250 for it, however, as ever, a reasonable offer would be welcomed.
Pics here!
Cheers.

Hello.
Got a really nice early 90s Paul Milnes road bike for sale.
50cm frame made out of Reynolds 531. It has a full full Shimano 105 groupset and Sakae seatpost and bars.
There are some scratches that you would expect with age but it's in cracking working order and no dents or dings on the frame itself. Could do with a new bit of bartape but is ready to ride.
Looking for something around the 300 mark. Open to reasonable offers in that neighbourhood.
I'm in NW5 for pickup but can package up and post if needs be.

Looking for a cheap run around for a friend.
She likes the look of a number of hybrids but i think anything a bit more sat up would suit her. She is 5'8 so that's a 17/18" in hybrid sizing. 54/55 in a road frame.
Ideally in decent condition but needs no frills
Budget - £150
Anyone got anything that might be up her street?
Thanks.

For some reason the images don't appear to like being uploaded. So here's a link to some snaps

It IS for a whole bike but as far as I can tell the components are a bit sucky... basically just wanted something that is a bit gravelly. A bit toury. Nowt particularly special. But something that can take a bit of a beating.
All very useful comments though - what kind of price point should I be bargaining them down to?!
