Sorted out a no-name left hand crank, so it's usable at the very least.

Since I ended up buying an 8mm drill bit for a different project, I drilled both the front and rear, despite it probably not being very sensible. Once I started drilling the rear brake bridge it was a lot beefier than expected, same goes for the front to be honest. I'm fairly confident everything will be ok...
Only issue now is I didn't think about caliper drop.

Think I'll have to go for 57mm drop calipers, hopefully I'll be able to order those tomorrow. I'm also going to try a thinner chain for timing chain, to try and get a decent chain line. Will update tomorrow.

Is there something someone who is trying to set up Campagnolo brifters for the first time ever might be doing fundamentally wrong?
Yeah trying to make campag work haha
Shimano all the way.Cable tension and making sure the cables are entering the mechs right (eg right side of the bolt etc). And making sure the cable head is seated correctly in the brifter
And to make the post shinier - rubbing compound -
Custom will be 100% worth it. As @heldring says: know what you want
Also imho sliders are better than rockers.
Either way looks like an exciting project -

Before I started this project, I asked what were the bit she liked and one of the things was this - the trouser guard thingy.

I've fitted the BB, cranks and pedals. (I know the ring is worn out, it's just a placeholder atm)

I had a cunning plan to cut the teeth off this old ring and use it as a chainguard. I forgot, however, to take into account that everything campag is stupid. The cranks are 135bcd, and the old ring is 130 bcd.

I do have a plan B - which is to cut the teeth of this 52T ring

However, I don't know if it will look quite right, since the old chainguard is chunky. This one will be
a) light
b) functional
but I'm not sold on whether it'll look right - I guess I'll just have to keep my eyes out for a worn out 135bcd, chunky ring. -
I think I'll go for 28c paselas then... Girlfriend had 28cs on before and said they were ok. Plus means I can reuse guards I already own.
I'm not being a weenie about this build by any means, but the girlfriend specified "less heavy" so it's really satisfying to look at the weight difference between old and new bits

He couldn't help - wondered if there was an online place I could order from, but I'll try the hardware shop by work first
