The forum gods have spoken! :)
I have a pair of panaracers sat here that, with a clean, would do the job. Might stick with this wheelset for the time being then pounce on some silver rims to match my spare Carlton flipflop set.
@scilly.suffolk Agree re the levers, but wouldn't it look odd with a single/or one as a dummy? Presumably the old path racers ran with front and rear brakes, while track didn't have any (!), hence didn't avoiding this problem. Will PM you tomorrow re the levers...
@FredyCro thanks for the headsup, will check out Pat's thread.
Thanks all! Do keep the views coming... Veering towards full period build when the right kit comes up at the mo though...

Hi all
After putting together an 80s Concorde and Batavus Professional largely from bits off the forum, I decided that my next build should go in current projects, so... Here she is my c. 1960s (?) Ellis Briggs track/path racer in her current state (still working on that seatpost/rear alignment!):
- Frame courtesy of ebay
- GB 'forged' stem from the bay
- GB bars from the forum
- Unknown seatpost courtesy of @anidel (finally found a good home for it!)
- Brooks B5N off an old Carlton (the bike went to a friend who didn't want it!)
- Modern 36h semi-aeros, de-stickered and awaiting some fresh gators (was considering a retro build, even have the flip flop Hubset spare from the carlton, but I had these knocking around for ages and I quite like the old/new hybrid look)
- Crankset will be a Milremo that I picked up off a jumble a while back, a beautiful TA copy with the insanely small BCD. Complemented by lyotard pedals until I sort myself out with clip less.
- Front brake will be an Acor dual pivot that I have spare (spent a while trying to find a period Weinmann 730 for not silly money, then gave up and realised it would perform much worse than a modern dual pivot anywho)
So... I just need to finish it up. BUT I'd like some help/advice before she's finished....
1) The frame has seen better days, it's been poorly touched up in places but I'm not sure I want to fork out for a restoration just yet (and we all love patina!) - any suggestions of a cheap way to protect what's there? Forum wisdom seems to suggest car wax; I've never found GT85 to last long as a protector; and I guess not riding her in the rain would be limiting if not foolproof!
2) Does anyone have a horizontal lever that wouldn't completely ruin the build? I'd like to ride on the shoulders and not reach far, preferably even with a finger on the lever, but I'm a gears and drops kinda guy so don't even know where to start with horizontal levers...
3) Bar tape - thinking white Fizik - I had some BLB perforated that looked the business, but was slightly thinner. Cinelli cork is my normal preference, but thought perforated might be more sensitive to the build. IMO white bar tape and brown brooks on a red steed looks super 70s cool, but curious as to the opinion of others!
Grateful for views on my first proper fixed! Thanks in advance.

@finbarr seems to have undibs'ed the lock by deleting his post and not replying... Expect that the lock will become available again shortly.

(7) Box of bits - all on hold
This stuff might be worth something to someone, or it might be for the bin... Please give it a new home on a beater near you! Don't let another mismatched crankset go hungry for weeks on end... Etc.
Seriously, all this has been either donated to me or is surplus and not worth cash. Say what you like and bring me a beer, two beers, or donate to the forum. Spread the love people.
From left to right:
- plastic repro shorties
- cartridge headset, black but for a scrubbed top nut. No idea on sizing, 1" and don't think it's french. Worked when I pulled it (not too gently) off a beater but has sat in a cupboard since
- mismatched crankset, seized genetic pedals - the right is a Tracer, the left something French. Might work for a beater, might not. Have only tried wimpy strength on the pedals and nothing more fancy, but one is a little bit scratchy anyway
- 27.2 (ish) generic seatpost - not for sale just yet
- 26.6 UNO seatpost - courtesy of @robertyoghurt now surplus - very scratched
- 25.8 generic seatpost - think that I got sent this in error, I have no use for it, your gain anyway!
- plastic repro shorties

Hi there
It's about time that I cleared out all the bits and bobs that have been slowly accumulating through my first year learning how to build up bikes (!). It's been fun, but it's time to stop hoarding (until the next project)...
Based in Willesden Green/Kilburn, can meet central London or halfway with most things. Will post smaller stuff if your desperate, ask nicely and don't mind paying for the Post Office packing!
(More photos here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/129421081@N07/with/16601508460/)
(1) Kryptonite Series 4 D-Lock - on hold again (3rd time lucky..) GONE £25
(2) Rapha arm warmers - size medium - White with dark blue piping
Brand new in bag, just tried on one of the arms once. A little big for me. Good to pack when facing changeable conditions, rather than a full base or additional layer. You'll look super cool.
NOW £17.50 Was £20
(3) cassette/tyres/tubes
Bought this pair a while back off @boydsbikes knowing that the rear had a bump/flat spot. Fine as a beater and I've fiddled with it since to get it in a reasonable state. But have never gotten the hang of wheelbuilding so if you were going to use these as your usual set, I'd loosen up the spokes and start again. One or two of the nipples are a little rounded I think, but still turnable. Both spin well, front especially so.
wheels GONE £25
3b) £5 for the 7sp hyper glide cassette
3c) £5 for a pair of inner tubes and some very well worn gators
(4) Shimano PD-A550 pedals
Retro pedals, think these came off an RX100 equipped bike. They need a clean and have a few scuffs, but nothing too horrific. Come with plastic cages and worn Christophe toe clips. Note that the little metal clips will come off before I sell these, as they belong to another set, and I've only got three bolts (you'll need six total to secure the cages), but a hardware store can sort that!
Consolidated elsewhere
(5) Campagnolo Victory Chainrings - 52/42
Picked these up as a spare set but look to be decommissioning the chainset sometime soon so these are going in the meantime. Sorry for the truly dreadful mud photos, used up all the degreaser..!! The 52 is pretty well worn, the 42 less so.
Consolidated elsewhere
(6) MKS cages - medium (NJS)
Rather scuffed... For the beater. 'Nuff said.

Now sorted, thanks all!
Hi all
I came across a Nitto stem at a jumble, don't really need it, so would like to offer it up for a swap... Looking for a Cinelli 26.4 clamp, 100mm+ reach. XA or 1A, happy to see what you have. Can meet central/North London.
About the Nitto... It looks like a Jag 100, happy to be told otherwise though! NJS stamped. However... Firstly and most obviously it's missing the wedge. Sorry guys. It does have the bolts though. It's been used on some Cinelli bars (not by me) but doesn't seem too worse for it. Not the cleanest example, but not total beater material yet.
Will take cash offers if you're desperate but would rather the stem.
Thanks!

Lock now gone (sorry @flannimal), arm warmers, chainrings, pedals and toe clips still going.
