Why is it thin ice? I'm already banned but using a tolerated alias. I used to occasionally donate and would be tempted to chuck in the occasional tenner or so whenever the begging bowl comes round. You are setting off while it is still light and it will be light again by 4 am. You need 7-8 hours of front light.
Rear lights, on leaving London you are in a massive peloton which has high visibility, once in the dark and lonely lanes even a small led is highly visible. Lots of bright blinky rear lights only serves to annoy anyone riding behind you.

Tubes, 3 punctures would be highly unlucky, 5 would suggest you should have put new tyres on before you left. I take two, I needed to use one 3-4 years ago.
