I had great success with Caustic Soda on an old rescued pomp. Even made a little GiF.

It is foul stuff when it gets going. Safety sunglasses and gloves a must. Took a couple of days of occasional top ups to get it done though. Full experience documented here: https://www.lfgss.com/comments/14421902/

I'm somewhat baffled by how the driver has managed this.
It looks like he's just passed Ham Cross, heading towards Kingston Gate. He's lost control close to the bottom of the small dip on the right hand bend, coming off the road just as it starts to climb again.
My only thought is he was cutting the corner/over taking at speed, when something coming in the other direction caused him to overcorrect and lose control, taking out a cyclist at some point. Whether that cyclist was coming in the other direction or was being over taken, I don't know. Just seems like a really strange place to bin it big time.

When you look at the schedule I think the Butler thing makes sense. If you look at Sri Lanka/India as one series because of the bubble requirements - he's played three tests out of seven. He's still been away from his family since the start of the year and now he gets a short break before he'll be in endless bubbles through the summer with the ashes to follow. Also, good to see how foakes fits under serious pressure, and having a decent keeper in India is hardly a bad thing.
Also, rotating Jimmy is the only way you're going to keep him fit. If he plays back to back tests with three days rest there is a really good chance he'll prang himself, probably in the first innings.

Disappointed we didn't up more of a fight this morning. Woke up, checked the score and stayed in bed. Will check the highlights for the Moeen show.
Sad to see he's heading home - but I can't quite believe the instant pile on from Vaughan criticising his decision. It's clear he's got some personal issues and it looks like something in these bubbles is not working for him. Given Vaughan must be familiar with this type of thing given his experience of being in a dressing toom with Trescothick and Jonathan Trott, you'd think he'd be a bit more understanding of the strains international cricket can put on you.
Maybe it's selective quoting from the BBC, but it doesn't come across well. I doubt he's gone home because he just can't be bothered. Vaughan just always sounds like a prick to me.
Edit - didn't click post and now we've all said the same thing!
Also - just realised Vaughan and Trott didnt overlap in the national side - and Vaughan was a cunt when Trott had issues. He doesn't learn does he.

Agree - the none catch was so strange.
In this case I think it's debateable whether the ball tracker really got the point of impact right. It did look like when it hit the pad, more than half the ball was inline with the stumps. Not blaming anyone, just not sure the technology really got it right.
I'm content with the "umpires call" on the stumps- but never been so comfortable with the umpires call on hitting the pads in line. I think if it impacts anywhere within the line of the stumps (rather than the more than half ball), you should roll it on and the decision should be based on the stumps. Basically - no umpires call on impact or pitching, with the umpires call element only brought in for the stumps.

Just got a clever dripper to give it whirl over the V60. Mainly because the misses is not invested enough in the process to make a good one and the clever seemed a good compromise considering the "just dump the water in" part of the methodology.
Very impressed. It can do 500ml no worries and if you forget about it, still tastes good like a long brewed French press. Quick clean up and not needing bloom/ pour slowly makes it much easier than the V60. It's basically a French press without the faff off grinds going everywhere. Plus you can buy the filters in normal shops.
Win win win I think.

Ah, that must be a bit hidden as I've not happened upon the pitch to date.
Edit - I have actually, but only in the winter when it's doesn't look so appealing!
The other nice one is at Abinger Hammer. You can sit with your feet in the Tillingbourne with a beer from the shop. We take the kids for a paddle after warmer walks in the summer. Shame about the main road behind though.

This little club is right 'up' there in terms of location. The view behind you is lovely. An afternoon on the veranda of that club house must be pretty much perfect. Also, if you live in Dorking you can ride down the Summer Lightning Trail all the way home. There are road and gravel bike alternatives to suit your disposition too.
One of the things that really makes a small ground IMO is the ones with no road noise. This must be one of the best for that in South East too. I have a hankering to move to Dorking for the reasons outlined here and this club will be top of my list. Hope its not exclusive to coldharbourians!

I was happy to believe in the process around the declaration. In the last few years there has been a few instances of a clamour for an earlier declaration followed by vindication of leaving it a little later.
There were lots of factors around declaring later on day 4- Making sure they had a harder ball for the end of day 4 and the start of day 5, ensuring the bowlers were properly rested and ready to go again. Part of it may also have been making sure the top order were trying to settle with the wicket at its worst. The earlier the declaration the better the wicket while their best batsmen are getting set.
Seeing Root chatting with Jimmy on the balcony was reassuring. They both seemed content with the plan.

Banning puppy paws makes little sense to me. It just isn't dangerous on closed roads and people only do it when on the front / in the wind. I think they don't like the head unit as mini aerobars look though, but surely you can just keep an eye on head unit mounts to make sure no one takes the piss.
The super tuck ban I'm fine with. Anything that makes descending more dangerous seems sensible to ban before the accident rather than afterwards.

Fingers crossed for you.
I'm pretty sad about it all (and everything else)- Eight year old daughter is getting hooked on cricket. Played her first games for the local under 10's this summer and was all signed up for Winter Nets ( I was well jel) but all cancelled. Her new bat is still wrapped and stuck at the Grandparents due to us not getting there for Xmas. I'd be all over T20 tickets at the Oval if it was any other year. Think it would blow her mind. Maybe there will be a window at the end of the season - but I imagine demand will be high.
Anyway, at least we've been able to enjoy waking up to cricket on the telly with breakfast.
