Think at @seager got some content provided he got back to Twickenham...

only uncertainty is whether @onyerbike got into his TT....be good to know so we're not wondering at Effingham.

See you here at 6ish - turn off the road next to the Ram pub - nice sunny spot by the River.

There is a kebab shop till 10pm in Cobham, or it looks like the Sainsburys petrol station runs till 11pm.

Far from a no-no, but extracting light roasts is harder. As dialling in espresso is a bit of an art, getting there with lighter roasts is even harder.
If you're new to home espresso, it may be better to find your feet with something a little darker - espresso blends are probably the easiest as you know they will extract well as espresso, and have been put together to make this happen. As it happens, the Yellow Bourbon espresso blend is (I think) on the lighter side of the espresso blend spectrum.

@cagimaha suggests 7pm at Effingham in his first post, but the event lists 7:30....
I'm super easy on timings. Work will be done by 5ish so plenty of time either way.

ah @cgg i feel your pain on the knee front. Hope you can find something that sorts it. No fun.
On the ride front - I've just put the 19t on the back in anticipation of the inclines. Weather is looking fab, if not quite as warm as the last few days. Excited.
Are most folks riding out through Kingston? If so - happy to tag along from out here. Got a bit of a light gravel diversion via Ardbrook Common and Downside if people are so inclined. 23c friendly I think.

There is something in this train of thinking. If you remove all the cars, you suddenly have some of the best roads in London to learn to ride bikes, learn to skateboard, learn to roller blade etc etc.
For a while, when cyclists were also banned from Richmond Park at peak lockdown it was idyllic to go skateboarding with my eldest in the evening. The descent from Pembroke lodge to Ham gate is just great fun and she learnt to carve her penny board there.
The issue is, if you ban cars, you need to decide on what terms the ring of tarmac can be used and there will be some who suggest experienced road cyclists averaging near 20mph is not the ideal. There is no doubt in my mind that if you ban cars but keep all other rules the same, there will be a lot of riders out for fast laps. That's great, but it does mean others who may like to use that tarmac could feel marginalised.
Not sure what the right answers are, but the concern is genuine. There are some clash points with peds too. The cycle permitted path through the middle, and the crossings particularly by the top Broomfield Hill and Pembroke lodge can be kinda manic at peak times.

I was thinking along the same lines but in that scenario would Hamilton not be gaining an unfair advantage? Not sure how that differs from Max's overtaking move.
Yes - but people would still have complained that the stewards were ruining racing even though they enforced the rules "correctly".
The question is how to maintain the integrity of the race, without requiring stewards to interfere too often with what people see on the TV.
-
I think the issue they may have been concerned about was the possible ramifactions of enforcing track limits at that corner over a race distance.
Lets say Hamilton was on his last warning (black/white flag?), defending hard in the closing laps, worn tyres sliding all over the place, and by an inch, went outside the white line with all four wheels. The stewards would be forced to issue a penalty of some sort, handing the race to Max without a pass being completed. Everyone would have been up in arms about how the stewards are ruining racing! That's not an excuse for this mess - they should have thought this through more and the track should be adjusted to prevent this - but just an explanation of how I think we may have got where we are.

Does anyone have first have hand experience of tearing down a reverb for the full rebuild? I've moderate experience of taking suspension bits apart and successfully putting it back together. A full service at TF tuned is £100 so might as well buy a new Brand X!
I have a reverb with a bit of squish on my new to me bike. Also, pulling up on the saddle when the post is compressed is apparently a no no, but is very easy to do when stopping mid technical trail...seems a major design flaw.
Just how hard is a reverb refresh?

Supply is going to be an issue in the short to medium term if you want something to ride soon.
The second hand market is like the wild west at the moment, but if you're not too fussy there are loads of Enduro style things on pink bike / eBay for not silly money. You take your chances a little, but i just picked up the Cotic above and it's in A1 condition.
I half wanted a short travel 29er (Transition Smuggler was top of my list) but they are harder to come by at the right price and willing to post. The Cotic is lovely though and suits my bikepacking needs better.
If they are willing to do PayPal you may be able to use their credit option on there.

Talk to me about tyre inserts. I'm running a Cotic Solaris Max, Hope Enudro 29 rims (pretty narrow at 24 internal I think) with a 2.4 on the back.
I'd like to get a little more cushion on the rear without it turning into a squirrely ding fest. New rims will probably be happening next year so I can go to 2.6, but what I can do insert wise with what I've got?
I've read the nukeproof inserts stretch plus soak up fluid, so not keen on those. What are others running? I want fit and forget plus ideally not too expensive. I only want one on the rear too, so extra points if you can buy a single / someone has one to sell / someone wants to go halves on a pair.
