Swinley = fast trails, sudden erosion induced camber changes, polished surface...... I try to hold something in reserve as I really don't want to crash on some of it. I now tend to head off to Tunnel Hill etc where it's softer, slower and less sandy.
Southern XC has a round at Checkendon which is fun, flat, rooty and near home.

Don't forget the effect of bar width on position. Makes a massive difference.
Binary on fast downhill off camber rooty mud is not good. Newer Hope are closer to Shimano on power but have heaps of modulation. Much more expensive but when you destroy a lever in a years time you'll be able to buy a lever not have to buy a complete brake etc.

Early morning ride to get some miles in before a family day.
2hours later find 20m sheet of frozen water main leakage. Last recorded garmin speed was 32mph. Ice sheet minimised road rash and bike fine despite two 360 rotations. Assos winter bibs not so fine.

Online Training Peaks is great but doesn't, as far as I can see, allow you to do the sort of analysis they do. That's academic for me 'cos I couldn't do such complicated sessions anyhow without brain explosion. Base miles to power plus simple intervals with occasional race data for me.
Training peaks best features are the power category chart - wish they would equate to MTB XC too - and the fitness chart as well as a good diary function that sums TSS and IF etc.
