Cycled from Fukuoka to Beppu via Hita, as part of a longer trip.
Liked all of it, generally the more main roads could be busy but the smaller/mid sized roads were very good and quite deserted, enjoyable but hillier. Not reccomending that route nesessarily we just needed to catch a ferry out of Beppu.Really liked Kyushu, it was very relaxed, also credit card touring and didn't have any problems booking accommodation a day or so ahead (in March).

Did this a few years ago, got the ferry to dieppe. Went down through Le Mans, Tours, Poiters, Limoges, Mountauban, Perpignan then down the coast. Would reccomend going over the Pyrenees rather than round if you have time, roads in that southern corner and down the coast were quite busy. Campsites through France are easy and plentiful, the cheapest being the municipal ones, we played it by ear with no issues.

Am heading out for some cycling around Japan in March, Flying to Fukuoka on 12th of March then flying out of Tokyo 17 days later, not sure whether to head down into Kyushu then over into Shikou then up by Omishima then onto Toyko, or to mainly cycle up Honshu. Or to spend more time on Kyushu, any route advice appreciated!
