Just a quick update on this.
I got the frame off from Mr Gumby and brought it to the, to me, the best person for the job: Mario Vaz.
I asked him to wet paint it wine red (he had a lovely Colnago in the oven when I went to his workshop and that frame had exactly the color I was after). He also got hold of all the correct decals, even the Holdsworthy one that was on the lower part of the seat tube.He just called to let me know the frame is ready for pick up!!! I think I will go today as otherwise it'll have to wait until Monday and with the strike I might not be able to reach him!
Will post pictures when back on a Current Projects thread.

All right, I'll take the Exage groupset and the wheels if both are still available (as it seems).
This assuming someone can confirm I can put the group on a '80s Holdsworth Mistral ? ( I think so )
I will take the tyres off you anyway.
Can meet in Wimbledon early next week?Ah, if you work in Kingston that's even better as I live in Twickenham, but it depends what time you usually leave Kingston :)

Anyway, I think I will go with these:

(Tektro R529)
on my Holdsworth Mistral build.
Nutted mount, long reach, brand new, nice look.

Yes all dual pivot caliper brakes have a cable hanger (rear and front). The rear one is at times provided by the frame itself.
Dia Compe makes these brakes and they are easy to find. The nicest ones seem to be from Mafac which is out of business.
The cable that goes from arm to arm could be a bit hard to find, but it seems these are hard to break anyway.Good braking power though and period correct.
