fitted crud road racer MK2 to my Dolan.
snapped of the rear tail wheeling my bike upright through the flat (no option to not do this)I never even got to ride it in any real rain when it was in one piece, but after a fewrides without that last tail I've had to fit an ass saver to as my bum is getting soaked.
I cant see how this is happening though, even without the tail, looks like it should cover it, so do you think it's because there's no break caliper? any suggestions?

So ultimately, the feature you are looking for in a tyre that you are intending to skid a lot, is a lot of hard compound rubber?
Just seen the lifeline tyres from wiggle, potentially a cheap choice. Guessing no one has tried them yet? Will be ordering a new rear tyre next month, worth giving one of these a shot? -

did it for a while, I loved riding, really getting to know london roads, but the rest of it was crap, and that's when the weather was half decent. they were employing a lot of riders when I was there and I ran some of the trial shifts. many couldn't safely ride a bike. That said, many could, and were decent enough guys. Whilst I was there, most riders were looking for other work.

down hill chain destruction. From the huge chunk out the cog I'm thinking some stone or metal must have been kicked up into the chain. particularly annoying as I was riding like an idiot and late for work.
went to LMNH old st. new bling bling gold chain and cog. Bit annoying, as was really hoping to save buying new drivechain stuff for spring.

Been running suguino messenger with stock ring and a variety of cogs for a while.
settled on a ratio that suits my commute (46 x 18) happy to go a little higher, but no lower.I didn't really know about chain wear and didn't eyeball how bad the chainring was, old chain elongated about 1/4 of an inch. I chucked out the cog and chain, but the chainring looked fine so I left it. - mistake. New chain has been on on about 900miles ago with a lightly worn cog and is looking pretty worn already. was silent for a short while and now noisey AF.
So, soon as spring arrives I'm upgrading at least the ring, cog & chain. giving me time to save for something a bit bling if it's worth it.
SO all fitting onto a dolan PC. 60cm, halo aerotrack rear (for now)
Q1) anyone renown for their durability in the world of chainrings/cogs? (My commute is 150miles+ per week, stop start london, brakeless)
Q2) any reason to move to 144bcd other than to use particular rings?
Q3) Omniums going to actually be a noticeable upgrade?
I KNOW I don't need the nicest parts for a commuter, BUT, pretty much all my riding is my commute (sadly) so I want to enjoy it as much as possible, and a well honed machine is a big part of that for me.

just gone to an Open Pave on the front, it's such a nice tyre. I have been on Gatorskins since I started cycling, so I guess anything was going to feel better, but so far really enjoying it, cornering especially feels a lot more confident.
I'm tempted to go for the rear one too(28c most likely) , I'm not a skid to every stop sort of rider, but I commute roughly 30 miles a day brakeless, so some skidding happens. will I kill a Pave stupidly quickly? what would be a good Vittoria option? Randoner?

Getting to chalk farm was a nightmare this morning, school run in 4x4's west hampstead/finchley rd. was nasty. it's the east of camden/Kings X bit of London that I just don't really know, so will be getting the map out. Cheers for the suggestion!
it's a nice distance to commute TBH, 13 miles or so each way, but it's really forcing me to address my poor bike fit issues, lower back pain from being too stretched out (drop levers on a 60cm dolan PC, even at 6foot 3, is just a stupidly long reach) so back to BRKLZ risers, nice for the back but slower and more knackering by friday. HTFU i guess...

Move in start time at my Stratford job has meant me hitting crappy traffic on way from willesden.
Started a few months back and had been doing willesden-regents park-Euston rd-City Rd-commercial st- whitechapple to stratford on CS.
looking for alternative... today I tried finchely road- camden-canals from kings X to stratford. was shit. slow, ped confusion, aggressive cyclists on too narrow a path for shared use.
any suggestions on a better route?

by no means a FKW but bibs, leg warmers, casual cotton shorts, fleecy jerseyand stiff(ish) shimano shoes is my regular commute attire, 30 miles a day...
Due to post work activities I did the same 15miles in hoodie and chinos, and flexy giro SPD trainers. annoyingly I made it in in my usual time, felt no worse/ sweatier than normal, and had the added fun speeding past the head to to lycra types.
