To me it does prove the point that you don't have to use the very best to get great results. Personally it was a test to myself rather than proving the point, it only came as a result.

One of the very cheap coffees I've roasted got a great review from Caffeine few issues back. I think it proves the point that coffee doesn't have to be expensive to win at cuppings and get great reviews.
There are a number of roasters doing darker roasts using same green beans as their single origin offers, but it helps to shift older crops quicker when new crops come in, and they are good. It's a common practice.

ftfy, you're not the first, it's very confusing.

You're problem is that you miss out important info/context when you read it. Waitrose coffee was suggested as a cheap and cheerful option, not as the best coffee out there.

All dark/light discussion is getting boring now. It's only a matter of personal preference. Dark doesn't have to be burned,cheap bad quality beans, and light not always expensive and great quality, as I proved before.

Choose the saddle that feels good, not by the looks. I found Concor very comfy, but super chunky and heavy. Swapped out for a gel version of a Flite and never looked back.

Then it comes to stem/bars sizes, I use OS with drops and 22.2 with risers for a daily riding. Front is stiff enough without a need for it to be stiffer, so I got Open Prisons which are great, as you know.

Well Columbus Max I think first appeared in '87 so that's fine but I for one have never seen any pics of any Russian team riding anything like this frame.

I meant to compare it to something that makes sense, not just pretty paint job or original price tag.
Shops have very similar history doing same thing in different locations. I have a feeling they are using same, Eastern Europe frame builders. Both have/had nice bikes in a shop but that's got nothing to do with their own brand value.
It's a lower end of Columbus tubing, nothing special frame, so it's not worth the asking price in my eyes, just like most BLB or Foffa produce.

Those aren't too bad.
