You also have kalloy uno stems. Very light, cheap and available in silver in 0,7,17 and 25 degree offset I think, and ubiquitous on eBay as UNO stems. Slim profile suits less chunk headtubes as well. Logo looks naff but rubs off really easily if you soak in acetone for a few mins. UNO seatpost is also available in a variety of setbacks and diameters.
Think Thomson even does a 25mm layback post now, though not sure in silver and agree the kinked profile doesn’t suit every bike.

That ones a boy. Leggier, with a small body and larger palps (club like things on the front of his face).
You tend to notice them more as they go wandering about the place, looking for love. The ladies tend rock stay put in their webs so you might be less likely to stumble across them unless you go looking

True regarding the trees but was hooking them above me even trying to roll cast so was infuriating. I’m using basically the same set up as you. 4ft furled in to 5ft hand tapered maxima, 2mm tippet ring and then 2-3ft grandmax.
What I’m actually finding matters most is stealth. I’m taking my time wading, keeping low and getting to the point that even in low clear water I can get within 5m of rising fish.

Brill. Given I lost £10 quids worths of flies to the tree trout today using the wrong rod makes sense to get something a bit more suitable.
Agree with spending on terminal tackle but when I'm casting max 5m, fly lines aren't super important given the rivers I'm on. Giving furled leaders a go currently, along with some top quality fluorocarbon.

River mole, tributary of the taw. £12 for a day ticket on the fishpass. And nope, I used to and want to get back to it though. These are turrall which came in the box as a present. Fab flies, though currently enamoured with barblessflies.co.uk which are also top notch.
Haven’t tried eBay flies yet as don’t need fancy ordering 100 flies which turn out to be a crock of shite. On the hunt for a 7ft brook rod on the cheap though if you have any recommendations?

Haha, well I’m only going for brown trout so will leave my dynamite at home. Expecting low water so nz style upstream on a 10ft 4wt will prob be the order of the day. That said hooked a couple of sea trout on nymphs in the past so not impossible.
Getting up very early though to try get the morning rise, and forecast to be overcast so hopefully fishing will be good!
