Prob this. Central heating means they’re active all year round. Although reviews saying bed bugs doesn’t always mean that, people might be getting bitten to crap from mosquitos - and not every room necessarily is infested.
If you have to stay there make sure to bung everything including bag in a hot wash (60c min) when you get home.

Problem is also that pesticides tend to be ineffective against them at the best of times. Resistant strains exist and due to them retreating to cracks and crevices where they aggregate you often fail to reach where they spend most of there time.
Used to work in a company where we kept them for research purposes, and had to work with them from time to time. Paranoia from that and being bitten on holiday means i always keep an eye out when I travel. The mental aspect is horrible and worst bit about them though as thankfully at least they aren’t known to spread disease.
Came across this blog a while back, when I was helping a friend with them which seemed to offer decent practical advice for self treating infestations:
https://citybugs.tamu.edu/factsheets/biting-stinging/others/ent-3012/
Mattress encasement, treating bed with heat gun/steam cleaner, sheets in hot wash, and then talc traps on legs at least gives you a safe space to sleep and methodically deal with infestation

Yeeesh. Bristol Frome is full of urban excitement, including shopping trolleys but plenty of beer bottles and fair bit of building waste from our friendly neighbourhood flytippers so waiting for the day I get aquatinted with a nice rusty 5” screw.
Got out on a boat on one of the Bristol waters today for the first time, good day but really sporadic despite trying a range of different tactics. Got my first pike on the fly which was cool and partner happy the freezer is now full!

Nice, cheers. Fish most of the time in a set of surf shoes which works fine but I know I’m going to get a bit of glass in my foot one day.
In other news, got permission from the farmer at the back of my dads to have a flick and tempted a couple of tiny Dorset trout before all the rain came in today.

Little quick review of the keswick handlebar bag - bought it for my commuting bike but it was just too wide for 40-42cm bars and sits a bit high so it's gone on my partners flat bar hybrid. She loves it - super easy to take on and off the bike, fits wallet, phone jumper and all the other stuff she'd normally have in a litle backpack but works much better on the bike. Comes with a little shoulder strap and actually looks ok when off the bike and she can clip her helmet to it.
Just another really nice practical bit of carradice kit for practical bikes. Made by Kelly.

Cheers - hadn’t thought of saltwater hooks, was going to use some white eyed lead heads I use for river trouts in likely looking holes in desperate times. Will look for some sand eel/fry patterns.
Re tide times etc, current places I’m looking are Usk, somerset axe and parret estuaries. All of which are a shortish drive or can go by train. Big tidal range but apart from possible quicksand should have decent escape routes. I’m guessing there’ll be some schoolie bass which will take fry patterns and I’ve got some shrimp and bloodworms for the mullet.
Good point re letting someone know, though I’m gonna try drag @bobble along if he’s keen?

Fly fishing yes, not specifically for salt water though. Got a £20 10ft 7wt that packs up into about 30cm long and an old rimfly with a decaying £5 line on though so not too worried about sacrificing it to the salt. Currently eying up an 8wt on eBay though - possibly foolishly.
Edit - should add ive cast half heartedly about in estuaries/near piers etc before using the same set up but normally whilst with friends/family. Never given it a proper go, although I know of some good bass marks further afield. Just looking for some tips when you haven’t got a scooby otherwise!

Out again on the frome this afternoon for a few hours, after a short session on Thursday with @bobble.
Heavy showers made seeing the fly pretty tricky and I missed the 3 takes I did have. Nice just to be out though for a bit.
These seemed to be doing the business though in a 16 https://www.dryfly.co.uk/product/heron-para/

Cheers both! Liking the look of the peasant especially as it comes pre-made in “find in bottom of river or twilight river bank” colours and I can put a string around the tang.
Any idea if the bigger Svord is uk carry legal- website seems to suggest 7.5cm? Not absolutely essential as I’d have a decent reason for having it on me but if it makes life easier I’d rather go for that.

Popped up on the beeb, some lovely photos.
My addition is this flying set of scissors (who was actually pretty chill).

Keep at it - you're doing all the right stuff and you'll get rid of them eventually.
Bear in mind too that if new bites appear, they may have actually been from a few days ago as some but people don't always react immediately (when i've been bitten worse reaction came ~4 days after). Have you found any evidence yet of where the bugs the bugs are?
Side question, do you have any pets?
