@Peter_Carter @frank9755 I didn't realise they were that expensive. Can we not get sponsored by Dimension Data? Is the technology different from the big sportives?
-
@onyerbike I could be interested, but suspect I'm an XL.
I'm sure the nopinz one is great but when it's £79 vs £240 I'm not sure I can justify the difference.
Also, is that bioracer one the same as the one nopinz helped develop and are selling on their site for £175?

I have Ultegra brakes and I really doubt that the callipers are the problem. I use the DA pads and have had no problem at all. I'm not exactly lightweight either.
I did 'toe in' the front brake too much once which noticeably reduced the stopping power, I guess because so little of the pad was actually in contact.

I'm thinking of doing the Deloitte one with a friend this year, for charity, but may also be going on a week long cycling holiday to Nice or Mallorca not long after.
What sort of toll does this kind of ride take In your body and how long should I leave afterwards before another big week?
I know it's a very general question, but it would be good to know how people felt after doing this kind of thing for the first time.
Previous trips have been 7 days of 100km+ hilly rides in Mallorca etc and have never felt like I needed time off after. In fact I smashed my 10mile pb after a week in Nice.

I use Bikmo. They were fast and efficient on the once claim I have made. Reason I'm with them is they cover bikes and bike boxes during travel which I think is a grey area for some insurance.
Plus things like you can claim a rental bike if yours is lost or damaged so your trip to Mallorca isn't ruined. Also covered a £100 taxi I had to get to hospital after a crash in the peak district.
Was with M&S as part of home insurance before, and they were good, but the cost difference was worth the extra cycle specific differences.

@hugo7 I have the Elite Chrono Hydro Mag elastogel which I'm thinking of upgrading to a direct drive one so it could be up for grabs, I got a good deal on it so would happily let it go for £100.
Same as the one you linked to above, but with adjustable magnetic resistance which you will want if your riding fixed. If you are in London, you are more that welcome to try it out.
@wqvm not necessarily.
