Lea Valley CC hill climb up Mott St is this Sunday. Fun event, good way to try out hill climbing. It will be a mix of abilities so don't be shy.

My mate had/has one, we called it the Fisher Price bike computer, but it was actually pretty good! Not exactly an in depth review.

The Garmin Touring is quite good for mapping with minimal data.

A lot of triathlon frames have bosses on the top tube which would be useful for endurance frames. I can imagine a semi ridged top tube bag with solid mounting would be very useful.

I have found out that the Juin Tech F1 (flat mount) calipers will only work with a 160mm rotor at the back and my frame will only take a 140mm rotor.

Simon at Edge Sports UK is happy to give me a refund, but I wanted to offer them up on here as I think they are the last pair he had in stock.

Just spoke to Edgesports UK and they confirm that the F1 flat mount Juins are designed specifically to fit 160 rotors so no way to use with a 140 (at the rear anyway). They are pretty hard to get hold of so I'm gonna offer them for sale on the other disk brake thread before I return them.

Shall I take it there or is it all the same people here?

I'm just learning about disk brakes so sorry if I'm getting it wrong, but the Kinesis 'recommends' 140 at the back but it appears in the case of my frame, it's the only option.

Juin Tech say only to use 160 and the rear calliper lines up to a 160 without any adaptors.

The frame comes with flat to post mount adaptors but they are for 160 which is stupid as the frame won't take them!

Ok, so I just pick the coolest looking rotor, I can do that.

But I have an issue...

My frame is a kinesis 4S and now I'm way to far into the build, I find it can't quite fit a 160 rotor on the back. It just scrapes the lump caused by the weld where the chain stay meets the drop out.

But... on forum advice, I bought Juin Tech F1 brakes that you are only meant to use with 160 rotors.

Is it possible to just use Juin Techs with a 140 rotor? My logic says that they are designed for a 160 so the pads won't line up with a smaller rotor and there is no way to step them down. That then leads to filing down the frame slightly, or using HY/RD which is a little annoying and more expensive.

Thoughts?

What's the forum recommended 160mm centre lock rotors for road bike? Will be using Juin Tech F1 callipers and really don't want them to squeal.

Thanks for the info. Given the choice would you go with kinlin 31 or Aileron for an SP dynamo build for a hilly long distance ride/race (TAW). Or does the availability answer the question.

Do kinlin xr 31 come in a symmetric disk version or is it just rim and offset disk?

For all the negativity on here regarding the Tour D’Alba (tm) I can’t see why starting a new event is a bad thing. Only thing I can think of is that it’s so badly planned that it stops others in the future.

FYI, I was told by DCR wheels that:

'The Kinlin XR-31 disc rim is an asymmetric rim which is actually not what I would recommend with the (SON) 28 hub due to the low dish'.

Damn, I'm from Edinburgh and my parents still live there. Would have been much easier/cheaper than TAW!
