Time to admit that at 40yo, my knees are never getting better and I should put this up for sale. The frame is by Hewitt, a beautiful combination of lugged and fillet brazed, with a wishbone stay, 52cm seat tube and 50cm top tube, and great geometry in general.

It was originally a really nice blue (which can be seen peaking through the black) and with some effort can probably be taken back to this. It’s a little dusty from a couple of years in storage, but is rust free and has been protected with Lanoguard. It’s been around the forum a lot, so I’m sure a few of you recognise it.

It doesn’t come with the pictured Time ATACs, but everything else is included! I’m probably somewhere around £1200 into this bike, but we know a bike is always less than the sum of it’s parts, so I’m looking for £800. It’s located in the Scottish Highlands, but I’m very happy to ship at the buyers expense.

Built from a selection of parts I had laying around, eBay and various forum purchases (and a small bag of pieces from Japan).

Immediately stacked it on the maiden ride as it's been years since I last rode a track bike and I'd completely forgotten to watch out for toe strike.

Aha, thanks so much, and no wonder I couldn't find what it was exactly. Will have to have a look at the BB tomorrow to find the exact year.

Pre CAD for sure. I was thinking it could be an early '90s 3.0, but I've never seen them done up like this in Saeco colours. Of course it could just be a custom job, it's a forum bike from years back so I was hoping somebody might know.

1980-something 57cm Puch rat bike. Actually a pretty nice lugged steel frame made from "2500 high-tensile steel tubes", whatever that means. Comes with most of the original groupset, bar the front derailleur, as well as a Wrights leather saddle. The frame itself isn't in the best condition with plenty of shallow dents and scratches, but I've attached a photo of the worst patch of rust.

Converted to 700c wheels, "suicide fixed", risers, doesn't come with any foot retention — I'm keeping the Restrap straps I had on it — so you'll need something there.

Selling as I bought it thinking it was a 55 and I could just about fit it, but realistically it's simply 2" too large for me (seat post raised purely for advertising purposes lol).

To be honest, there's absolutely no reason for me to be riding a bike full of carbon when there's luggage involved though, maybe I should just give in and fit a non-carbon fork ... but I really like the way this rides.

Tempted by the JACK bike rack but there's a waiting list and I'm impatient.

I have a set of Restrap straps from almost a decade ago now that are still going strong so that's an easy enough choice. Maybe I'll also add the mini rack when they release to the public.

I want to make my old Cannondale road bike a little more functional, but I have a carbon fork, carbon bars and carbon seatpost, so where the fuck do I put a rack, basket or a small bag? I'm thinking maybe Restrap's saddle pack is the way to go here?

Anybody need an omson seatpost?

Thanks! The u-brakes are surprisingly great. I hadn't heard of them either, I just looked around BMX forums for a modern u-brake with large clearances and these kept popping up. I ended up getting their levers too because the NOS Ritchey's I originally had in mind felt a little too vintage.

Thanks! This generation of Karakoram has a u-brake rear rather than canti mounts, something that I only figured out after splashing out on two sets of paul cantis ... I ended up with the Odyssey Evo 2.5 because of the 2.5" clearance and they're actually pretty great at stopping you.

The Cannondale is in a pretty good place — and has been around the forums once or twice from what I can tell — and the Dolan is gonna be sold so I think next is the Giant TCX which I have a pair of TRP Revox Carbon waiting for.

Thanks! The saddle is an NJS Koga Miyata / Ariake Jaguar II that I picked up off the forums years back and haven't yet found the right build for. I don't think this is the bike for it either but the Flite I'd otherwise use is on my Concorde. I'm also not 100% sold on the Ritchey Comp risers.

I'll grab some more photos some time soon.

After letting it sit at 80% complete for 8 months I'm now back on the Karakoram and've almost gotten it sorted. Just grips, basket and dialling it in to go.
