Thanks for ther replies. I'd trust the guy, he seemed really knowledgable and was genuinely triying to work out how to save me the most money. Some of the condor branded stuff is made by miche and on their website the gallery for the pista has one built up with wheels that have miche and condor written on them. Dude told me the race rims were made in portugal and had thicker braking surfaces and the spot where they join is smoother or done better or something.
the one ones look a bit cheap (not that i'd know, i mean, listen to me). And wouldn't high flange hubs reduce comfort? Goldtec on the other hand seem pricey.
I'm thinking about spending a bit more now to get the weight down, about 300 perhaps. I hadn't realised how much wheels weighed, it's as much as the frame yo! My current bike is somewhat ungainly and i've been dreaming on a nice light one.
I'm skinny/aerodynamic too, only ten stone but we carry some heavy shit. so would it be worth saving the weight of 4 spokes and going for 32h on the rear? a 36h rear might look cool though and that's what matters isn't it
I had another point but i've lost interest

I fianlly just thought fuck the money and went to condor for a new bike. It's going to be a pista and when I asked about wheels the guy who helped me said open pro rims weren't as good these days and that condor's own rims would be better. Is he right? Also, I'm not sure if I'm going to put it together myself or get them to. I'm not massively bothered about weight, more toughgness and reliabilty. I'm intrested in hole options too, someone reccomended me 36 on the back and 32 on the front, or is 32 plenty? Hubs i honestly have no idea about, are they more important than rims or what? i want to spend around 200 and i'm going to use them for couriering.
also, is it worth spending monet on a crankset or just getting an ok one?

a reliable source recomended me some continental top contact tyres, they're touring tyres and has anyone any thoughts?
For a few weeks I tried grand prix 4seaons and they were so comfy and grippy but they got loads of punctures when it rained, they're meant to be tough. Now I've got a durano on the rear but it was a nightmare to keep it on the rim. not comfy either, still grips better than gatorskins though. -

i've been needing a new bike for a bit and need alot of help. Best one i've test ridden so far was a 55cm tokyo fixed s2, so i'm thinking steel track type frame. i like the look of the tokyo fixed dart and the brother swift too, they have 1"8 headsets, carbon forks and just seem tougher and more practical. But I'd rather not buy a brand new frame because i'm going to use it for work so it'll have a hard life. i might though, one has sparkly paint. But it doesn't need to be pretty just functional.

i saw this Bob Jackson today for 500, that seem like a good price, i don't know anything about the components though, cranks do look cheapo. i'm mainly concerned about getting the right frame though. good price guys? i know i could order a frame from bob jackson for 450.there's another black Bob Jackson too http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bob-Jackson-mens-bicycle-/171113194459?pt=UK_Bikes_GL&hash=item27d72423db no size listed but it is in London though
oh i'm so confused.
any thoughts or reccomendations would be brilliant.
alright all you fakenger lawyers out there, I know how you afford those hubs and all that rapha. Answer me something without charging 800 an hour you scum.
So, I had a conversation witha non cyclist today and it made me wonder. They suggested that if i'm filtering and a pedestrian walks out from behind a bus or a van without looking, then it's automatically my fault because pedestrians always have right of way and are considered the most vunerable road users. And if i can't stop given 2 meters and no notice, then i'm speeding.
Also, if the rider, or if the pedestrian gets hurt or a bike is damaged in a senario like this would it even be possible to handle it like an incident involving a motor vehichle? Insurance or anything? criminal charges of wreckless riding, or being a dickhead idiot who walked out into traffic like a twat without even looking cunt!
We all know that cyclist are my far the most vulnerable and least dangerous road user. Does the law even consider pedestrians road users at all? they ain't even got wheels man.
i don't want to get into what big holes most pedestrains in london are and how most of them have no regard for riders safety and how surprisingly often they try and have you off and how we can't ever say anything because the can just say we go through red lights and how it's killing childeren and get liscences and helmets, and you can't sit there, no ball games, no fun, don't do that, go away. I feel we should avoid that.
Maybe a clever person could get some nice statistics of wether the law favours cyclists or pedestrians and if anyone ever get's hurt by bikes, i can't really see a pedestrain coming of worse that a rider though.
I'd also like to apologise for being so sensible.
