Oh yeah, I'm fairly sure you're right too but I'm not wanting to mix and match road and MTB shifter/derailleurs. I'm just curious whether the medium cage MTB derauiller will work fine with a road cassette and chain (such as Rival 22 or 105).
And tbh I'm fairly sure it will because everything is 11spd but I'm trying to make sure since I know very little about MTB shifting.

So, selling a couple of shoes and pedals.
1) SIDI Dragon 2 SRS Size 48 Eu MTB shoes
Great shoes and pretty stiff sole. Been used for a while so there's scratches and some cosmetic damage but nothing that you wouldn't have from regular use. I used these with TIME pedals so there's some indentation in the carbon fiber sole where the cleats tighten down but this can be replaced and even if you didn't, I think it should last you a long time without problems. Does not come with the rubber sole bits as this is the SRS model (so as the sole wears out, you can just buy a new set and replace) so you would have to get that before you started using them. Come with brand new original SIDI insoles which I wore for about 1 day as I use aftermarket insoles. Don't smell either and all the buckles work as new.
£50
2) Gaerne Chrono Size 48 Eu Road shoes
Super stiff, light shoes for road racing or weekends. I used them for commuting so they're a bit beaten around some parts. Especially around the heel and more so around the toe area. These come with replaceable heel pads (I'm throwing in a brand new set for free) so there's less damage but the left foot toe area is a bit degraded from putting my foot down many times throughout the day. I didn't find that this affected the stiffness or performance though and I've used Shoe Goo to bulk it up a bit so it doesn't get any more damage. I think they should last you a very long time provided you only used them for actual riding and not so much stopping at lights. Really comfortable too and use the awesome BOA lacing system. I actually prefer them to SIDI. Also a few scuffs on the actual shoe from whatever but nothing significant. Come with brand new Gaerne insoles and a spare set of heel pads.
£60
3) Shimano Ultegra 6800 SPD-SL pedals
Great pedals and in really good shape. Apart from some scuffing to the Ultegra logos, look pretty sweet. Function perfectly from what I remember and come with a set of Yellow cleats that are a bit used but still have lots of life left. Also comes with a huge bag of spare screws and little plates for cleats.
£40

Apologies for the poor quality and can obviously provide better if you interested. Also the white fluffy stuff in some pictures is baby wipes as used them for cleaning. All items located in Chelmsford, Essex but I work in London so can meet for an exchange or can post.

According to those dudes, cable pull ratio is the same on 11spd road as 10spd MTB but what would that mean? Only 10 gears?
So I guess if I go through with it and want 11 gears then I would need a x1 derailleur as well.Edit: Right, so after a bit of a look, seems like GX is good enough for what I need. So if I get a GX shifter with GX rear mech and dual SRAM guide brakes then all should be well technically.

Pondering of the idea of putting some flat/riser XC bars on my CXish road bike and was wondering whether the MTB shifters (such as SRAM X1 or GX) would shift fine with SRAM Rival 22 rear derailleur? Thinking to go 1x in front as I rarely use small ring so wouldn't need the left shifter. And also, what is the difference apart from price with X1 and GX? GX seems to be slightly lower tier but not quite why.

I've recently started to wonder whether I really need that inner ring as I only blast through the city and very, very rarely drop into the inner. Running a regular Rival 22, I'm curious whether I could use a Rival x1 chainring (such as this http://www.bike24.de/1.php?content=8;product=132660;menu=1000,4,122) without any issues? Or are there any decent alternatives to SRAM's own rings?

Ahhh, that would be very sad indeed. Thanks for the info, maybe someone else will pitch it.
EDIT: This video seems to prove that you are correct.

Ahmm, was running a 1x Rival 22 Hydro setup on my steed for a while and thought I would experiment with a riser setup for a change. Got some Easton XC risers, M8000 brakeset and a SRAM Apex trigger shifter. This has turned out to be exceptionally fun so would like to go full Shimano. M8000 brakes, shifter, derailleur and then 105/Ultegra chain and cassette (only need 11-25 or 12-26).
