Try searching for Alienation Ankle Biter rims. They're double walls. I've heard of a few people using them on shoppers. I can't comment on how good they are, as I've got the Sun Ringle rims you've seen at SJS. I was about 15 stone when I built the bike up and like you, I didn't fancy single walls!
Like @sacredheart says though, you can spread the forks and the rear to accept BMX hubs and drop bolts for the brakes are easy enough to sort out.

Fair enough. That wasn't phrased well and not thought out. I mean I am looking for an adjustable wrench to cover the usual range used for bikes, plus the most common bits, for more around the 50-60 quid mark than 90-100. But I suppose, for a calibrated bit of kit, it's a case of buy cheap, buy twice.
Oh, and are any or the the preset torque wrenches worth a look?

I have Hestra Windstopper Trackers for cold MTB rides and they're great (with a merino liner for really cold days).
These look interesting as a beefed-up, waterproof version and not too bad at £45:

Front wheel brushed by white van man, sporting West Ham knuckle tattoos, who cut across me on Euston Rd. "I was indicating back there", he said, which I could obviously see clearly behind me? Didn't notice indicators from shoulder checks either.
I shouldn't have shouted at him, as it wouldn't achieve anything other than to antagonise both of us and I was more annoyed that I should probably have anticipated it from his road positioning. I feel soiled (not brown trouser variety) from the whole foul-mouthed exchange with the cretin in question.
Otherwise, an uneventful journey. Must pack eyes for back of head tomorrow 5/10

Don't worry. There'll be a phasing in period for this. First, there will be a review period, as we can't expect these haulage/transport businesses to have thought about safety seriously before. Then they will have to allow for retrofit of existing vehicles, which will also take a large amount of time. Then, just as the deadline approaches, there will be a legal challenge that will go through all levels of courts and then be upheld, leaving us back a square one.

^ That last one reminds me of Funk MTBs (can't see whether it is on tiny screen, but paint looks a bit tame). They were rad too - fat, rigid forks!
Edit: Is this just going to turn into Retrobike lite?
