I think the only reason to use "aftermarket" brakes is for weight savings. Those don't look particularly light, especially for the price. I'd stick with SRAM/Shimano/Campag.

Good frame to start off with, Cotics ride very well. I would go 100mm to 120mm for the forks; Rebas are a good shout, or Rockshox SID.
I'd go 1x10, I find it wears better than 1x11. Also wouldn't bother with a boat anchor cassette, unless you're planning on riding up mountains. A 32 or 34t is fine.

Yeh, coould well be. I took it to mean that the arms and spider were all one piece hollow carbon, but I read it a while ago when I was looking to buy some SRAM cranks.

That makes sense. The ones with the spearate spider will not be exogram then.

Actually, thinking about it, they may have produced a Red crank with a separate spider like the Force and Rival cranks. Probably one to avoid as no doubt heavier and shitter than the full carbon crankset.

Also, if cost is an issue, pretty sure the later Red 10 chainsets are just the same as the 22 model (apart from the rings, although 10 rings work fine with 11 speed). So you could probs pick one up second hand off ebay for not alot of cash.

Red 22 chainset is Exogram, it refers to the construction. I've seen a few differnt looknig Red chainsets kicking about though, the 22 ones had the classic red/grey graphics, but then they brought one out that was a dark colour scheme.

I want a gravel bike type frameset, but I don't have a clue what I should buy. The only thing that's caught my eye is the Planet X Pickenflick, but it's not ideal due to the lack of mudguard mounts (this will also double as a winter road bike). It's also more than I'd like to spend really.
Has anyone got one for sale? It needs to be pretty big (about a 59TT). I don't want a CX frame!
Alternatively, what else is there that's cheaper than the Pickenflick? Not keen on any of the other PX offerings. Kenesis do a few but the BB's are a bit too high. Also looked at the Pinnacle Arkose, but would prefer something with shorter stays. Don't mind steel, but it's usually a bit heavy at the cheaper end of the market.
Any help appreciated.

Just remove a cog from the cassette and run it as a 10 speed till you can find a cheap/second hand freehub body.

How much lower are the bars on the Klein?
Have you used the same saddles and saddle setback on both bikes? If you have, I reckon you should try moving the saddle rearward on the CAAD.

Your current bike looks like a road bike whereas the bike you're wanting to buy looks like a track bike, therefore I'd expect the fit to be different. Just looking at pictures of them on google, they look like they should be setup with an inline post and a reasonable saddle to bar drop. I wouldn't be too bothered about your current fit in that case, as you'll need a new fit for the new bike. I'd get the recommended size for your height which is apparently a small. I think an XS for someone who's 5'5" would be too small. The top tube length is tiny.
