So right after I used ronnie's code (thanks again by the way), I updated the evans webpage, and brown is now out of stock...
Seems like they're systematically removing all the colours which may have had honoured codes associated with them, maybe in preparation for the "sorry, we cannot honour this sale" email...
I hope they don't do that though.

I had my eye on that one. There will be a serial number on the bottom bracket that will let you work out the year of manufacture.
Every Rotrax I have had has been fantastic, i'm sure you will be very happy with it.
Awesome, thanks for letting me know, I'll check it out.
Why didn't you end up buying it? Can't wait to ride it... :)

Just reviving this thread a bit, as I have recently bought a second hand Rotrax bike, and would like to know a bit more.
It's a track bike, reynolds 531 "designer select" tubing, with campagnolo record hubs (the older ones with the oil hole), and Miche Primato crankset. Tubular rims, which I'll be swapping out for clinchers.
Once I get it, I'll post up a few pictures, but when I take delivery, what should I look and check for specifically?
Is there any way to tell what year (or era) the bike was made?
Thanks.
Edit: The lug work looks just like the first picture at the top (gold lined). The overall paint job is different, but the lug work is the same (if that helps at all in identification).

I have a pair of Campy Record track hubs, which are currently laced to Tubular rims.
I want to switch them over to Clincher rims, like the Mavic Open Pros.
I'm open to something similar as well, not really fussed as long as it isn't a deep V rim.
If offering something other than the Mavic's, please advise what the main differences are (strength, durability, weight, colour, etc.).
Also, the hubs are 32H i believe.

Not sure if Reg Barnett is a good branded frame or not. Haven't been able to find much info on these forums.

I've been having informal "open sessions" where you can come and do your build alongside me when I have a few sets to build. Could be a day or half a day. You can use the tools and ask for tips but I won't take you through the process as in a proper teaching session. Get in touch to arrange a time i.e. when I have lots of builds on and when you're free. No charge for this but donations of cake, biscuits, crisps etc are more than welcome.
That sounds awesome, you're very kind to offer these sessions.
I'm currently travelling, but will be back in London early August, so I'll try to get in touch about wheelbuilding then.
In the meantime, where is a good place to shop for rims in the UK/London area? (wide variety, decent prices). Edit: Just saw your website, and will be checking those sites out.
Cheers, and thanks to Howard for the recommendations & suggestions too.

I have a pair of tubular rims, laced to old Campagnolo Record hubs (the ones with the oil hole).
I would like to switch these over to clincher rims, but I have no idea where to start, or what I'd need.
I've trued wheels before, but never built them from scratch.
I "think" I'll need:
- New clincher rims
- New spokes?
- Rim tape
Tools:
- spoke tensioner tool
- oil
- truing stand? (would it be possible to use my front brake for this? (I only have a front brake).
Or... would you recommend taking it to my LBS and getting it done? If so, how much should I expect it to cost?
Any forseeable issues with switching these hubs from tubs to clinchers? (Not sure if hubs need to be specific to a certain type of rim).
- New clincher rims

Hi are you still doing this?
I have a pair of tubular rims laced to old Campy Record hubs (the ones with the oil hole).
I would like to switch these over to clincher rims (keeping the same hub).
Not sure exactly what I'd need, but I imagine a new set of clincher rims, and some spokes? Anything else I might need.
Thanks.

When I was enquiring I was told the 23" and 23.5" frames both had a 22.75" top tube. I don't think they're square in all sizes, and I don't think the angles are all 73°, especially in the smaller sizes.
For some reason Bob Jackson don't like publishing a geo chart but if you email them they will respond to specific queries regarding sizing.
I thought they'd be around 73... was hoping it would be more 74 or 75...
The size i'm interested in is 55cm (22 inches)

That seems like quite a move away from the initial idea of £700 on a complete bike. £200 on cranks and £20 on a BB doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to me.
Not sure what else i can add? I think the advise of buying something secondhand is the best advise you've been given, i recently saw a 1980's Rauler with COMPLETE Campagnolo Pista group for less than £600. I'm sure there are similar deals to be had if you look around and keep an eye on the classifieds.
I think I wasn't clear... the Campy Pista stuff, is for my "ideal" (read: dream) bike.
I'm not prepared to pay for all of it right now but one day.
Currently, I'd be happy with the components that come on a stock gazzetta.

?? Bit difficult to say unless you've got specific parts in mind. What did the £900 include? I'm assume you're guesstimating vintage Record/SR Pista for that? Seems incredibly high regardless unless you're buying all NOS or looking at C-Record era in which case the hubs and pedals will eat a massive chunk into £900.
This is all in USD, and admittedly I took it all from one site, without visiting other sites.
The wheels are Record Pista Track hubs, laced to Mavic Open Pro rims.
The rest of the parts are Campy Pista/Record, unless obviously not required (tubes, tyres, stem, etc.)
Headset 74.99
Wheels 595
Tyres 84
Tubes 10
BottomBracket 30
Cranks 279
Cog 59
Lockring 13
Seat 52
Seatpost 79
Stem 59
Bars 55
Tape 10
Pedals
Chain 10TOTAL: 1409 USD.
Obviously, this is my dream build. It's achievable, but I don't want to drop that kind of money just now (especially as I'm travelling for the next year or so).
that's why I'm mainly OK with average components (see gazetta components), as I'll only be taking it to the track every now and again, for fun.

I had a look over the Gazzetta a few weeks back in the bike shop, i thought it was a nice simple, clean looking frame. It's no SuperCorsa but then it's a quarter of the price. For what it's worth though i'd be tempted to go with building up something 2nd hand if you don't mind finding the parts. I think you'd end up with something better quality for less money.
I did a spec sheet based on the parts I'd want on my ideal bike (Campy Record Pista parts throughout). The parts would end up costing around 900 quid.
Before I go and do the same research on the Gazetta, do you know how much the components would all cost (roughly)?
TBH, I'd prefer another frame, but I'd be happy with the parts for now.

Haha, congratulations, I'm assuming the shipment went out?
What are you going to do with 8 of them?
