Bag of Crisps
Random stuff in supermarket sausage rolls?
Flapjacks
Drink tablet things to add to water bottles
10ish assorted cereal bars(I posted them above)
A powerbar or two
Kendal mint cake
Gel if one tastes okLights?
I dont intend to let bike out of site to lock is not needed,
Saddle bag = puncture recovery shizz
pockets = phone & battery pack,
home made oat biscuits& trail mix
waterproof,
I have a long sleeve base layer ill tie around waste until midnight / water stop (2 bottles so one water stop is plenty).

to be fair, you can still be scientific about what you eat whilst eating natural foods. I'm not against gels I just don't like them, they sit funny in stomach and don't stop the hunger even though their providing the nutrients. However, knowing what is contained in the food I eat and following the same guidelines as the gels in terms of what the body needs to replace is just as beneficial and works better for me. It's still just as scientific

Looking for some ideas for the DD of what to take. At the moment I'm thinking some of everything along the sports food type shelf in evans or whatever and then some chorizos, a roll, crisps, flapjacks and just like a more normal food packed lunch to get away from weird gels and stuff I'm sure is packed with e numbers and chemical shit.
Also is there like an optimum time for eating before? I'm kinda hoping to have a lazy day with a sleep in the afternoon but make sure to drink plenty of water so when I start I'm well hydrated. Don't want to eat too late or too much or anything and give myself a crippling stitch or whatever the nice side effects could be.
I'm sure someone will make an obligatory "it will be fine" post but still.
for me 100 miles is: a pocket full of trail mix, some fruit and nut flapjack or oat biscuits (home-made, so no transfats/sugars) and a high five 4:1 water bottle.I eat a bowl of porridge with honey an hour before and something fatty and warm after.
that's not including water/ electrolyte drinks

Lots of money to have it crashed, not to mention harm myself and/or others in the process.
Like I said, after the bike gets put together, it will be 'backroad' test rides, it won't take much to see will I manage without or should I put it in garage for another month until front brake gets ordered and fitted...
Brakes thread thataway >>>
Your going to want a break for the first few times you hit a steep hill, descending can quickly get away from you if your not used to it

A note that I made for myself at the end of the ride last year, I kept it aside to remind me for this year:
Get the map at the start, towards the end people spread and many don't know where they are going. You don't want to get lost and have to go back.
Even if the weather forecast says that there are 15 degrees do bring an extra sweater and a waterproof jacket.
Take a power nap towards the end. 20 minutes will make you feel reborn
base layer is lighter and a nap mid ride is an awful idea after a distance like this keep the legs moving at a steady pace

If hard wiring you shouldn't go greater than 50 meters without a repeater/ switch. but virgin routers suck anyway, you have to use their router to connect to their network but you could run a cable to a more central point in the house and then connect a router here, using that as your wireless/ connection point.
** apparently networking has improved since I did my networking+, he seems to be correct the max distance it 100m
