Hah that's an entertaining cartoon. Good luck with the book Oliver! Let us know if you need it peer reviewed!
You raise some interesting points - and I don't think there are (m)any quick solutions. For me, it'll be interesting to follow how the city of london continue to put in place better measures for walking and cyling and restricting motorised journeys, and to see how or if "liveable" neighbourhoods spread across London - assuming they are delivered as low (motorised) traffic neighbourhoods. But still a long way to go, and centralisation is unlikely to be unpicked anytime soon.
I'm going to get hold of Carlton Reid's Roads were not built for cars, and maybe I'll learn something

A somewhat disappointing article in the guardian today - especially in its use of the term "traffic":
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/feb/11/how-london-got-rid-of-private-cars-and-grew-more-congested-than-everMakes me think - what books or substantial definitive sources are available for an average person to understand "traffic" (meaning people movement) in an urban context, its complex linkages to trip generation, trip making, mode choice, road danger, public realm, and more modern terms like traffic evaporation. If you've got any suggestions for a reading list let me know

Having a clear out and no longer need this niko messenger bag. Its the earlier, smaller niko bag - one shoulder strap - like this one here:
https://www.rei.com/product/876838/chrome-niko-messenger-bagIn good condition. Fits a SLR camera and some accessories - incl straps for a tripod. But not big enough for a laptop. It never got much use - didn't often take just my slr camera with me on the bike.
Collection preferred - N1 or WC2A or somewhere central. £50. Prefer not to post

I'd love to hear what you find.
I visit family there and really enjoy the cycling in autumn and winter - mostly sticking to the roads out of tourist season - the coast roads around Zennor are awesome, and Jack Thurstons lost lanes west has a good route.
With the gravel bike you could link up to the portreath to devoran "coast to coast", it is a short route but stick around Poldice mine and there's some entertaining off roading /mtb there from memory.
Enjoy it

Carradice nelson long flap, black, with the quick Release support, good condition - ideally sell together for £55

Bontrager spd mtb shoes, casual, black, UK11, internet says they are the SSR Multisport MTB Shoes, £10
and a black denon amp, PMA-250, about 10-15 years old its been in the cupboard several years, £40

I don't think theres a right and wrong answer - personally, I've always gone second hand and have built up my knowledge and experience over time. My first bike in London was £50 out of a skip on gumtree. I learned a lot fixing that up - it was cheap to get it roadworthy as a single speed conversion with the help of sheldon brown et al. Then later on i figured what type of riding i enjoy and upgraded my bike to suit.
