The chain stay bridge isn't actually a bridge - it's only attached to one side of the frame so can't be offering any structural support.

The main reason for leaving alone was that you might 'hole' one or both stays during removal.
At least that risk's been halved, then!

Now I can see the photos, there's another option I'd try, for speed, before the NaOH.
Tap something like a M14 thread in that post and put a bolt in it and tighten up.
Caustic and a cork's still the easier option, though.
If done carefully, it won't damage the paint.

Mister Caustic will do it for a couple of beers.
