Hi everyone! First of all, thanks for all being so helpful, thought I'd give you an update! I went back to the shop yesterday, and they said they could find a good replacement and then fit the headset.
When I went back, they instead had just fitted the broken crown race and overtightened the top lockring (as the steerer hadn't been cut down, was going to do that this weekend), knocking out the rubber sealing to the point where it can't be stuck back in. when I pointed this out - obviously highly politely and eloquently, whilst remaining really calm - they said they could replace it at trade price, and that I should come back the next day as they were closing.
When I went back today the manager had no memory of this conversation and said that he had no obligation to do anything - which, technically, he didn't as I didn't pay to get the crown race installed initially.
I've just decided to bite the bullet and buy a new headset, and just plan on using the rest of it for parts. That said, thanks everyone for the offers of crown races and everything, you've all been really useful.

I'm taking it to the bike store that cracked it this morning, and I'm going to hopefully try and wrangle a new one out of them, but if not, all your advice is much appreciated! and the crown race is literally the part that goes on the forks - if either saarf or nuovo_record have a spare it would be brilliant!!
-
I don't think so - it was a 1" threaded fork for a 1" crown race, I'm pretty sure everything was british threaded. I'm heading over to the bike shop now to try and get them to replace it, but if not, hopefully someone on the forum has a spare - getting a new part from a dedicated replacement place seems to cost as much as a new headset! Thanks everyone!
I'll keep you guys updated

Hi there!
When giving my lovely fork and crown race to me LBS (in order to install, didn't fancy buying myself a PVC pipe and doing it myself) the mechanic managed to snap it, cracking off almost the entire outer ring.
The crown race is from the 1" threaded campagnolo record headset - the new kind (this baby: http://www.campagnolo.com/jsp/en/groupsetdetail/item_seriesterzRtra_catid_7.jsp). I was just wondering if you guys have any advice on where to source a new one/if there is any crown race interchangeability with other headsets!
Any ideas?

Hi there! we currently in our house have an unfurnished room (contains mattress and wardrobe) up in Holloway. Due to the size of the room, we only charge 80 quid a week, not including bills, so entirely within her price range! However, I must state that we are third year students at UCL, but our house really isn't what you'd class as normal student living (much nicer). If you're still interested, I can PM some pictures and more details?
