Ha - admittedly there was a point where I was adding up and thought 'well the Epiphone doesn't come with a case and a Gibson would, so that's £100 closer'.
From what I could see, the new 'Inspired by Gibson' ones have been getting great reviews. And I do really like it when a 'cheap' guitar is really good... even if you don't throw extra money at it.

I've come around to them as well, and see them a bit like multi-FX units. As much as the tart in me likes having the separate 'proper' pedals, when I actually plug one in and am playing around, it's hard to argue with the convenience/fun of having everything there. They look like they'd be great fun with the looper pedal.
Also, I used to be really against the idea of the thin electric-like acoustics until I lived with someone who kept theirs in the lounge for a bit. Pretty much as comfy and easy to play as an electric when you're crap like me, sound was a bit boxy, but definitely 'an acoustic guitar', and not always a bad thing that it's not as loud.
I'm not buying one, but I could definitely see the appeal of it - especially if you haven't got space to store a few guitars and mostly play through headphones/unplugged anyway.

Just picked up my acoustic from being set up. Never had it done before, in spite of owning the guitar since being a teenager. The case is a new acquisition too - hoping to come back to playing again.
So... it's really worth getting guitars set up, isn't it? It no longer requires feats of strength to fret chords. I'm really pleased, so here's a shameless 'look at my guitar':

I used to use them as well - they might even still be on the bass. They definitely work, however I found that the shape of them meant that you had to use a strap with the locks on it - a 'normal' strap wouldn't be very secure at all on the buttons. Only an issue if you're actually going to want to use another strap, and it really wasn't a problem for me, just something I noticed.

This arrived yesterday - I’ve only had a little play so far, but since the last amp I had was a 2U rack-mounted one, it’s pretty nuts (to me) that it’s so small and not rubbish. I was only planning on getting it to replace my amplug and try and motivate myself back into playing again, but I might treat myself to the matching little 1x8 cab at this rate too.

Does anyone have any recommendations for someone to do a bit of servicing on my electric guitar? I'm in Manchester (specifically Urmston), and I think I need the cavities shielding and the nut filed/replaced.
Just picked up one of my old guitars from my parents' spare room and ordered a Vox MV50 to see if having it around makes me start playing it again - but it'll be much more likely if the thing stops humming and stays in tune!

Cheers - if you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay on Black Friday? I was aware of that coming up in not too long.
I'm not planning on getting the next-gen console any time soon, but the newer G923 is now a single SKU for XB1/PS4/PC, so I imagine that'll carry on throughout? They seem like a good chunk more money for not really any benefit, though.

Thanks guys, handy to know. I think (according to the internet) that the G29 is basically the same as the Driving Force Pro, so that's promising!
@Soul - I think a second hand G29 would be about the top of my budget for just giving it a go. If I had the space, I'd be happy to drop more money and also get the full rig as well as a better wheel in future.

Looking for a little input/advice about racing sim setups, if anyone has some experience:
I've been playing them since I was about 5, always with a controller, and have always wanted the full setup - especially as they've actually started to look like they work well. However, I rent a room, so space means it's not going to be possible at the moment.
I've been thinking of getting a Logitech G920 and the matching shifter second hand to clamp to a desk - would this be worthwhile, or just a bit crap? Currently playing Dirt 2.0 on the Xbox, and will finish Forza 6/maybe buy 7 or Assetto Corsa when my Game Pass runs out.
As an extra factor - my Xbox is currently in the lounge on the 50" TV with a sofa. The wheel would have to go upstairs on my 29" ultrawide. The xbox would letterbox that to about a 24" 16:9 screen.

For fans of closure: The Blons arrived, sounded great, but the 'ear hook' bit of the cable would just pull them straight out of my ear/made them impossible to wear. Got a new (very OTT looking) cable for them and now they're great.
Just over £45 all in, so not mega cheap, but I'd definitely buy again.
-
Cheers - I'd seen reviews had started to come out about the T2 Plus, which only complicated things further.
Part way through review trawling through both yesterday, the Blons went on sale on Amazon for £29, so I went for it figuring I could always replace the tips/cable to try and sort fit issues if I had them. Quite interested to see what they're like when they show up!

I read this really neat piece this morning about one of the off-shoots of SimCity, an arm of the business which tried to produce simulation games for business use. Worth it if you have the time:

Yeah, likewise - to be honest, I was expecting to come away saying 'why would I play something that isn't Streets of Rage 1&2 when Streets of Rage 1&2 exist?' at best, so it was a nice surprise.
I was similarly impressed by Alien: Isolation, too - I think it says a lot for things like the art style and design (although I'm not an expert in these things) too.

I've gone and bought some pedals...
The looper came first in January, and I'd never owned any before. Then I borrowed my brother's multi-FX thing and had to admit that yeah, I had fun, in spite of liking the simplicity of just plugging straight into an amp.
The Caverns is great (I just wanted a basic reverb, but this was cheap second hand and it's fun), the wah is a wah, and I'm still figuring out how to make the Tube Screamer work nicely with my amp.
