I’m in the process of knocking together that exact same colour scheme, typically I bought brand new 25’s only to discover that with a slight shave of the underside of the rear brake calliper I could get 28’s in .

Thanks both for your replies. I ride Marathon Supremes on my commuter and would be looking at their studded tyre in the first instance anyway.

Not having studs on the main tread but on the shoulders certainly makes sense, doubly so given what you’ve both said.

Are tyres classed as ‘winter’ with metal studs of any use on frosty/icy tarmac roads or intended more for packed snow/ice?

Considered putting them on my old mtb for the early morning commutes when the road sparkles but suspect they’re something of a gimmick?

Thanks for the offers, I’m after a ratty 135 as the plan was to strip it so don’t want to attack an otherwise unblemished saddle. I know the plastic shell of the 135 is a good shape for me, I don’t know if the same mould is used across different variants?

I’m considering fresh paint on a steel road bike sometime soon, I’ve used Henderson’s before and always been happy with price/outcome but wondered if there is anywhere else worth a look locally, happy with single colour but would be similarly happy to discuss a fade which I don’t think Henderson’s do.
