^feels softer but just as rigid as my buddey's FTP... much less pingg than aluminum
heres a rolling shot with same stem and deeep drops
http://www.pinkbike.com/video/304965/looks and feels like it fits.

whats the point of having that stem when you're going to use the spacer
the bottom spacer is there to clear the top tube when in full rotation...
or until the tire comes into contact with the downtube
my other stem is currently married to some compact drops that woulda made the ride much easier or more aero

use whatever works but... never had a failure or accident with doublestraps/cages or Velcros
had an unfortunate and unexpected unclipping riding Spds
my left foot slipped out on the top of its rotation which would have been fine had i've been sitting...
not the case in this instance.. standing while winding up for the climb through a parking lot i frequented for lunch daily and Blappp
layed her down sideways, got up dusted myself off and left with hurt feelings and scratched up bars
will Spd never again Evarrr

I'd prefer that transfer to be built up like so..

Dropped my chain going downhill so i had to foot jam to bring it to a stop about 30ft from the light.
felt really out of synch switching back to toe clips'n double straps from velcro straps
annywho, at least none of the spokes were damaged unlike the last time it happened
so weird how just the slightest gear change can make such a difference with timing
have been riding 47/17 most recently but went back up to 52/19 because it was a dry sunny day

Second hand Thomson, but that's quite generic..
I second this...

you can keep a longer stem without suffering from too much reach when riding on the extensions with reversed shallow mud drops... can probably find them inexpensively second hand too
el toro bars have a nice bend at the end of the extension for good stretch as well...
