It's just a bike, build it up with anything that works and will make you smile! Saying that, I think Campag and Colnago are inseparable (sorry Tommmm, I'd go with silver). Modern looks good and works better than old. Above all, ride the bloody thing.....
Couldn't agree more about the wankery of some 'period' builds and my Gios is probably the worst offender on here! In my defence I've had it and 90% of the parts from new and it's a comparatively rare frame which for no clearly defined or logical reason 'should' be restored. It will be ridden, not hung on a wall.
Ignore the snobs, enjoy your bike!

So, the Bianchi workhorse finally died after approx 70k miles (cracked at BB), poxy Italian workmanship! The WifeMobile frame was repossessed by the mate who lent it to me. Enter the Land Of The Giants......
I'm not usually a huge Giant fan, but a pair of TCR frames for £400 removed all prejudices. These are almost entirely parts box and corpse of the Bianchi builds.
And, yes, the wife is tiny!

Nothing ever goes smoothly, the unique centre-mounted gear lever bosses disintegrated at the chromer.......
Luckily, the genius and mega-mechanic that is Max Norrell of Enigma Frames is making me a new one from solid stainless steel which, of course, can never rust. Less fortunately, the snivelling bastard is sunning his loathsome body in Spain, so there's a two week wait.
By that time I should have a BB that fits and the paint will be REALLY hard, everything happens for a reason!

Thanks for the comments folks, I must admit to being quite a lot pleased and considerably poorer.
Did the bottom bracket fit, did it fuck!
So, buy another bracket, hope the chromed bits turn up this week and finally build it up.....
I have three builds to complete this week and every one is blocked by unforseen missing parts, frustration levels going through the roof. Ah well, at least I've got some miles in on the carbon FredSled.

That Colnago is bloody lovely, Saarf, it puts my shagged out going to the pub ex-mtb 'Dale into the shade where it belongs! But nobody will want to nick mine.....
I am now the proud owner of a TCR Aero Compact, in immaculate condition for very little money, seems almost a shame to turn it into a workhorse!

Aaaargh, my god-knows-how-many-miles 1998 Bianchi workhorse has finally died! It's my fault as usual, I stupidly cleaned the bloody thing for the first time since autumn and noticed the damned great crack above the BB.
Currently bidding on Fleabay for a replacement frame, I'll stick it on here if I get it. It won't be a proper build, just a transfer of tired bits from the ex-Bianchi (RIP).
18 mins to go......

Anyone got one of these, I have mounts on all my bikes but am now down to only one actual computer!
