It's here!

The plan was to build it at the weekend, but pretty much everything's turned up except seatpost and bar tape.
We've now got as far as we can get, but the groupset didn't come with cable end things for the brake outers, so can't fit the rear brake cable yet. Also, haven't fitted the chain yet as I'm gonna dig out a quicklink rather than the stupid Shimano pin.
Pics to follow!

Right, wheels (the cn*carbon ones upthread) have been bought.
If this was my build I think I'd have spent a lot longer deliberating about parts and generally would've been much more in favour of waiting for amazing deals on all the bits, with the build taking months and everything being agonised over.
As it is, he wants to start riding it asap so it looks like I've now got everything ordered. If all goes well, it should all be here by the weekend.
My only concern is that the cosine wheels are being delivered by yodel, so there's always the chance that the Chinese carbons will be here before them...

For anyone who's interested, turns out I had a plethora of chunks of flint, glass and other crap in the tyre, buried between bits of tread and so forth. The bit that got through was flint, it appears.
That'll teach me to change tyres in the dark...
Edit: I've chucked a marathon back on there. Gonna see if it's really as awful and joy-sapping as I remember.

Got a puncture, fixed it. Carefully checked all around tyre and felt thoroughly inside for any sharp bits. All seemed OK.
Set off again and got another puncture (front wheel again) about five minutes later.
Walked to Finsbury Park and rode the tube to the train.
Enraging. I'll have to check where the tube is punctured. Having a look at the tyre now and it all looks fine from the outside.

Cheers! I've got a spare inline barrel adjuster somewhere - good point about that though.
I've got a 130mm Deda Zero 2 stem that was a little stretched out for me, but could work for him, think that's 37 or 38mm stack. Yeah if it's too high, could just go proper pro and run the stem straight on top of the bearings :)
He's got Giro SPD shoes already, which'll do for now. I've got some old SPD pedals around somewhere, so that should get him up and running. I think his feet are gonna be too big for the selection that DMT have got, but not quite big enough to use any of the shoes I've got lying around.
This thread's also making me realise I need to do a huge clearout of bike stuff soon...
In other news, I've ordered the 5800 groupset from Merlin, as they let me specify type of BB (always handy to have a spare).
Edit: Oh and I'm thinking these wheels might be a good choice.
As he's around 80ish kilos, I'm tempted to suggest he/I asks CN*carbon for custom drilling, 24h 2 cross front or something, rather than the 20h radial front wheel.

So my brother has decided he's going to do an Olympic triathlon soon and wants to do some road cycling as well. He started sending me links to rather expensive and fancy bikes, but being a thrifty man, I poo-pooed that idea and had a quick peek on here. I immediately spotted @macaroon's Kinesis Aithein for sale thread.
I'm a big fan of my 4S disc and really like the look of the Aithein, so suggested it'd be a good choice and it looked to be about the right size for him, he's 6'4" and it's a 59cm (if it works for Bruce Dalton...). One thing that macaroon noted was that there's only enough steerer for a completely slammed stem. Should look good and my bro's young enough to still be flexible.
So the plan is for a bright orange 59cm frame, slammed, with plenty of seatpost and all parts black. I'm hoping it'll look pretty good.
So, with macaroon getting the frame in the post and my brother telling me he was completely uninterested in picking parts for it (apart from deep carbon wheels, he definitely wants those), he left me to piece together parts and work out a build.
As I mentioned previously, I'm a thrifty man and feel especially responsible about not buying him anything too shit, but also not pissing away his money needlessly.
With that in mind, the purchased parts list looks like this, so far:
Kinesis Aithein 59cm
Cosine 24mm cheapo wheels
Vittoria Rubino 3 folding 25c tyres
Deda RHM02 bars (44cm)
Deda bar tape (black)
Pro Tharsis alloy seatpost (placeholder until we work out fit, cheapest 31.6 post I could find)Still to buy:
Shimano 105 5800 groupset
Stem (dunno, I've got a few spares kicking around so we'll see what fits him. Long-term, probably a black on black Deda)
Saddle (dunno, something from the parts box to start with - I've got a black Romin Evo Expert lying around)
CN*carbon 50mm clinchers of some kind. What else am I missing? Anything else I'll need?

I had this problem when I got mine. If I remember correctly it's just brute force. I seem to remember swearing profusely and sweating a lot. Mole grips and a towel to try to prevent scratching the end caps.
