Ah ok, well I won't be doing any whipskidding - I'm not quite that tarck and am generally too old for that sort of thing. It'll be used around London for commuting, general rides and down at Herne Hill (when I get off my fat arse and get on with it again). I'm about 85kg and 6'6", if that has any bearing on it. Also, is it best to get 23mm width over 20.5mm?

After a year and a half of faithful service I've managed to pop a spoke on the rear of my V-Sprint wheel, 30mm rim to Miche hub. What spoke do I need to replace it with?

I'm thinking of getting a set of 60mm/88mm carbon clinchers for my tarck bike off ebay, for £250ish. Why is this a bad idea? Has anyone got these wheels (for example). If so, how are you getting on with them?

I'm thinking I'll keep my MK1 VRS going for as long as I can then look for a 2nd hand MK3 VRS, if I can justify it to myself...

My experience is that you call up and they give you a PAC code when you request it. You then give this to new provider and it can take a few days for new provider to switch number over to their network. Soon as it doesn't exist on the old network the contract is gone, but until then you still pay for it I guess, if that crosses over into a new month that might be you screwed.

Might be a silly question, but I've looked at a couple of pairs of tester approved (tm) wheels and was wondering what the real world difference/improvement is of RS31s over R501s. They look pretty similar and appear to be the same weight. Are the RS31s stiffer or..?

I've got an SQR block on each of my two bikes and I've had absolutely no issues using my SQR Tour for commuting every weekday for two years, a month long tour around Europe and various other rides. Nothing's snapped. I do use 64cm frames, but have the SQR as far down the seatpost as I can and there's loads of clearance. It takes about 2 seconds to remove and attach the bag and the block is definitely unobstrusive enough to not worry about leaving on for rides without it. Really can't recommend it highly enough.

Car on its side at the top of Finsbury Park/Manor House. Traffic being diverted every which way but bikes allowed over. Nice clear stretch was fun.

Rode in on the fixed gear for the first time in a couple of months. I'd forgotten how much fun it is and how much faster up hills, but realised my position is very short and upright. Gonna stick a longer stem on tonight and maybe move the saddle back a little.
