Hang on a minute, I've only just read that tweet properly. So he owns a chain of successful cafes, has a house worth a reported £3 million furnished with fine furniture, a flashy car, a fancy leather jacket, and god knows what else... And this chump and his son only have one pair of trainers between them!?

Hey @scultura I've got a set of the silver SPD-SLs in good condition, with both yellow and blue cleats, if you want them?

Perhaps, but I think setting aside an entire day for riding is much more difficult for some than it is for others.
I like the idea of a short ride, every week through summer, that gets people together just for the joy of doing it. I can't be bothered riding seriously any more, so I need to get out regularly in order to keep a base level of fitness, and doing it on your own gets a bit dull.

Thanks man. It was so difficult to shoot with all the fire going off, and multi-directional spotlights in loads of different colours, not to mention the subjects moving in mid-air for those three. I was constantly altering the exposure and swapping between spot-metering and area-metering, undecided on which was working best, if at all, in the ever changing light. I took 200+ pictures in 45 mins, and got maybe 5 good ones - but hey, such is life!

I can't think of any 'indie' groups (apart from @jakjakjak and my nascent CCC (Casual Cycling Club) of course) so maybe it's just worth joining one of the bigger ones - ABC, VNC, or Iceni - if you want regular groups?
I think the biggest draw for those larger groups is that you get consistent times for rides, and consistently good turnouts. The issue with 'us-on-here' is getting everyone together without some sort of formal framework. The mailing list for the Dandy rides worked perfectly, for example, but without something like that, and without someone willing to devise and then lead regular rides in a more official manner, it's always going to be too nebulous to be successful.
I've been tempted to start the CCC 'Dress Down Friday' evening rides - chilled, no pressure, after-work jobbies. Maybe I will.

Yes please :)
