All this hassle is putting me off replacing my Pompino fork to get a disc brake at the front for better wet weather braking. I was going to place the order tonight. Now I'm not sure.

I'm thinking of putting a disc fork on my Pompino. The replacement fork has a rake of 50 mm and axle-to-crown of 400 mm. I think the longer (by 10 mm) axle-to-crown roughly compensates the extra 5 mm of rake.

Would this fork be a bad idea handling wise or geometry?

Ah, mine lack cooling fins, so either orientation is fine.

I purchased my Shimano style pads from Superstar Components and was completely unaware the pads had a left and right handedness.

That's what I did. I'm concerned the puller will also just pull out as the threads get destroyed once the inner pin is pressed into the bottom bracket axle.

Yes, still using it but I think I'll replace it the next time it's removed.

I've had a similar issue but on the drive-side. Also the chainring on mine is quite sharp on its inner diameter. Having just changed to another chainring I don't think the spider is machined very well the fit was so unbelievably tight. The ring only sitting properly when the bolts were tightened.

Does that mean the rotor was warped or have you now made it bowl shaped? What benefit does grinding off the lawyer tabs provide?

My Escapade makes a noise at the rear when I ride hard again presumably due to the frame flexing. It's a 132.5mm spaced rear end and the pads never seem to get parallel to the rotor and therefore rear braking is not optimal. I wonder if this a consequence of a 135mm hub on a 132.5 mm frame, if so a 130mm hub would give similar results.

I don't suppose there is any similar modification that can be made to a Shimano BR-CX77 brake (cf the TRP mod above) to increase the movement of the brake calliper? I can't see how but thought I'd ask.

Does any one know the difference between a 6000-2RS bearing and a 6000-2RSR bearing. I just realised what I put in my hub last weekend was the latter

Surely shimming the rotors can only correct for a lateral offset from the hub centre rather than a difference in rotor thickness.
