Although not on the way home, you can get a litre of IPA (the solvent not nice beer) from Amazon for £7.49. You want the pure stuff, >99%. That's 1000 ml not the volume in the spray cans of disc cleaner which I imagine to be much lower. At work we buy it from chemical companies for much less but I don't know if they sell to individuals.

Aren't the proprietary disc brake cleaners just isopropyl alcohol (IPA) which can be brought much cheaper than the proprietary stuff. It's what I use to clean my pads (disc and rim brake) along with rotors and rims if they're really grotty.

Thanks. How does one tell if the calliper or pads in the calliper are misaligned? Mine are Shimano BR-CX77 which were tightened in place when with the pads clamped on the rotor by depressing the lever.

I'm confused. Why is the kevlar worse than a coiled outer. I believed the kevlar was there, as snottyotter suggested, to stop the cable bursting under load. I thought the linear strands kept the length constant.

Regarding pad alignment do you mean the pads not being parallel to the rotor? I had wondered about this. They do look to be off a very slightly. The frame rear spacing is 132.5mm. Presumably this makes the brake adaptor mounts not perfect for either 130 or 135mm OLD hubs.

Is the Jagwire Keb-SL a true linear cable or Jagwire's version of compressionless? I've got some Jagwire (don't know the code) that my LBS said was compressionless, but it's far from great.

Measured the length of brake cable I needed using string. I then looked at the Odyssey Linear Slic-Kable and it seemed to be just a smidgen longer. It's arrived and it's 7cm too short. Damn.

Ideas for decent linear brake cable by the metre are welcome.

Mine is black from Cotic and I purchased it separately. It looks very similar to the DT Swiss in style.

Got one with my Cotic Escapade and use it with a Hope disc hub. It holds the wheel rock solid I do have to clamp it a bit tighter than I would a normal skewer, but I can live with that.

I have the same issue with my Shimano BR-CX77. Do you mean out copper slip on the ID of the washer as opposed to its upper/lower surfaces? I'm keen to give this a shot.
