I'd quite like to come tomorrow, I've got work at Liverpool street at 4pm so would need to be at chingford in time to get a train in for then. If that's do-able count me in! I can always find my way to a fire road and blast it down into chingford.

The main problem i found with Vs/cantis off road is how quickly rims/pads wear out. Killed a rim in no time on my cross check last year from winter off-road. I have now drunk the disc brake kool-aid.

are you set on rim brakes then? Why, out of interest?

The gravel kings are tubeless compatible, I run 32c GKs on my road bike tubeless. You will def need a compressor/bottle rocket magic to get them up first time tho.

In terms of improving mtb skillzzzz, anyone have experience of the tutored sessions at the Olympic park or anything? Or better to just play around and learn on your own? I'd like to learn some good technique.

Tubeless'd the 3in nobby nics on my Marin pine mountain the other day, super easy. The wheels on the otp are totally ready to tubeless, just put some valves in, they went up with a track pump (one with soapy water, one without) and dumped sealant in. Well impressed! In my (limited) experience the schwalbe tl easy tyres go up pretty easy without the need for a compressor.

I like panaracer tubeless repair kit, u cut the anchovy to size so it's a bit versatile.

yeah but when you ride a heavy bike and pass people on weenie builds you get to be well smug and what's road cycling about if not smugness.

Only changes from off the peg were my own pedals (which got changed to clipless after this pic cause I forgot that I don't know how to ride flat pedals), and a cambium saddle.
Super impressed with the bike, I'm not an experienced mtb-er by any stretch of the imagination but it handled great on my jaunt to epping, did a few mediocre jumps over tiny kickers and the tyres offered a good bit of shock absorption. The build kit at the price is amazing. Haven't ridden it enough to give an in depth analysis but riding it was very fun and made me smile a lot.

I did a year with no shampoo with long hair (not like waist length, but mid shoulder blade length I guess?) and it was grand, just wash with water and you're away, your scalp will take a wee while to adjust to its new shampoo-less regime.

For a light cleanse for the hair without using anything that lathers apple cider vinegar is magic.
