We at LBK enjoyed the success of our first jumble and have decided to make it a regular thing, so, starting Sunday the 27th of October (this Sunday!) we are having bike jumbles on the last Sunday of every month between 9am and 12 noon.
The address is 28 Whitmore Road, N1 5QA
LBK members can email fixit@lbk.org.uk to book a spot to flog their wares, and anyone is free to come and peruse and haggle to their heart's content! See you there! -
earlier one of three things happened on eversholt street:
- a guy on a brakless conversion with no foot retention DAS'd me
- someone DAS'd me while I was riding past a guy on on a brakless conversion with no foot retention
- a guy on a brakless conversion with no foot retention asked me how to skid
I DAS'd you on euston square earlier. Perhaps this was this occurrence. Cept brklzzz ftrtnlzzz was not me.

That's me. I didn't notice you I'm sorry, what were you riding?
No problem! I was just stood outside no. 33, my bike is a black something with decals that say victory on it, a steamroller fork, a mismatched chainset and a saddle covered in duct tape. I don't like to think of it as a rat bike, but it probably is.

This is a wheel with a Shimano Alfine 8 silver 8 speed hub gear with 18t sprocket, 36 hole, laced 3 cross to a Mavic A319 rim with a Conti Top Touring 700x32c tyre, with tube. The wheel is straight and true and comes with a fitting kit. Minimally used and in great condition.
This sale does not contain a shifter compatible with the alfine 8 as the bars, stem and versa 8sti brifters that were on the bike this was on were stolen. You can get the regular flat bar shifter for a good price from planet-x, or jtek make a bar end shifter for alfine 8, or you can get the aforementioned versa 8 sti brifters (which were fantastic in my short experience of them).
I'm asking£160£150 for the wheel.
Can deliver anywhere in london in the evenings, or can arrange pick up around our respective schedules. Will not post.

Were you riding down from Finsbury Park to Holloway, on the one-way system past the Sobell Centre last night?
I'm pretty sure I saw you/this.
Yep I was! was riding down to the made possible by squatting event on 15 Dock Street!
Then down New North Road/Canonbury Road southbound? It looked like the above bike and made me smile in awe at you.
Yes yes twas me on the same journey. Glad I made you smile! I saw a couple people who looked a bit "on here" but was focusing more on my safety than DAS'ing.
A tip for anyone making a tall bike; use a ladies frame for the upper one. Makes it so much easier to mount/dismount!
Step through frames on top are probably more practical, but they don't look quite as good, and I dunno, I wanted to build it and I wanted the frames to be cheap/free and a step through frame just wasn't available.
If I build another I would use smaller frames and perhaps a step through on top. -

Maybe this should be in RLJ? Just spotted you on a double decker two frames put together bike on Stoke Newington High Street. Quite amazing. Was wondering how you get off at a red light so followed you. Well you did not.
That was me. The difficulty of getting back on is the reason for the rljs. Once I've mastered the remount I'll be better. Prrrrrrooooooommmmiisssee.
(but I just swing my leg over the back and hop off)
There's a thread for it in current projects. -
Can you stick a vid on youtube on how you get on/off n generally ride it? Im intrigued!
Id shit myself coming up to traffic lights
I'll try to do one when I get back to London at the weekend :)
I have been a bit iffy with lights as I've still not mastered getting back on again. Just trying to slow down way in advanced of the lights then spinning2win when they go green.
Getting on when no one is watching is much easier for some reason...and another good thing about this bike is I bet no one is going to steal it (feeling the pain as my regular-sized bike was nicked today)
I feel you, my cockpit on my surly was nicked last night.
don't be so sure. my last tall bike was stolen.
Fuck! I hoped that it would be unlikely for it to be nicked. Hope mine doesn't suffer the same fate :(
I must build a tall bike
Do it! It's so fun, and I really want to get together a regular tall bike ride in london.

And it's finally finished! Really stoked on this. I didn't get as many in progress photos as I would have liked as I was really just trying to get it done as soon as possible! These were taken before the chain tension was sorted out, we thought it would be okay being hella slack but the chain fell off on the test rides, which is bad enough on a normal bike, let alone this one. We sorted it by swapping the 24t sprocket on the back for a 21t and taking a link out of the chain. Now it's tight (probably a little too tight) but that's certainly better than too loose!
Here's the picture!

And here's me with the bike. (for reference I'm about 6ft 2in.) picture of a Polaroid. I am become cliché.

Was scared riding it in traffic at first, but rode dalston to Camden totally fine!
Thanks to everyone at London bike kitchen who helped make this happen, especially Peter for teaching me to weld and helping me a fuck load.If you spot me on this feel free to stop me and ask to have a go. Hoping to take it on a social forum ride soon!
Pretty sure I saw a forum cap going south over Waterloo bridge. I was dressed as the ghost of Lance Armstrong's career (wearing a sheet) and in a large group of cyclists with music for the LBK halloween ride!
