out of interest, if you're moving the stuff over from the dawes how come you're not going cantilever? seems to solve the problems you're trying to solve with direct mount.

Looks to be standard GXP afaik - it's self extracting so 10mm is for the outer cap bit and 8mm is for the bolt which goes into the axle.

Moved stuff over from my kona unit to genesis fortitude 2021 yesterday and took to local bmx track. Chopping steerer, dropper post, new front wheel and new brakes are next on the list for this.

Oval ring on single speed feels a little odd but looking forward to more rides on this.

New frame+fork and need to fit 1 1/8" headset, star nut and crown race (can do crown race with screwdriver and hammer if no one has). Am higham park area but happy to travel a bit. will bring your preference of beer / wine / soda.

yeah, an aesthetic shoe they are not. Reckon any approach shoe with sticky rubber would work well tho. I hike / run / scramble / mtb in them so I don't mind the anti look too much.

I have a pair of the five ten access knit shoes that I use for mtb. good all around shoe, originally bought as an approach shoe but works well on flat pedals. I wear them day to day too, good if you don't want something hyper specific to riding mtb.

I have a kona unit in size 19in, but it's a little too small, meaning I can't get a 27.2mm dropper long enough for it, so planning to replace frame and move everything else across.

Anyone used mudhugger / fathugger guards? I commute on my 650b+ as well as a bit off offroad and want something to keep the mud off front + rear better than my current clip on SKS ting.

They're 3 inches, clearance is plenty, a little stodgy sometimes with epping mud in the winter but epping mud is especially sticky.

Gotta do work stuff this weekend so just going to do a short jaunt to epping. Would love to join in future and ride something a bit more bumpy.

Yeah I bought it complete. I'd say due to the weird hubs used building it up yourself may not be worth the hassle, there are a few options listed on the page on charlie the bikemonger but idk. The one on sale on there is frame only so you could get a fork with a more normal dropout standard, though from what I can see 110*9 is easier to find than 141*9.

Believe you could get some love mud wheels for it though, as I think their frontier uses the same standard. might be worth pinging alpkit to ask.

EDIT: you're also welcome to have a little ride around on mine if you want to try out the size.

@russmeyer wrote a long answer then saw your post saying you'll give it a miss. Great bike for what I use it for now - commuting and camping duties on sort of bumpy but not jumpy stuff.

Also doesn't have a replaceable mech hanger which imo on a bike in 2018 is an actual sin, especially for one that's supposed to go offroad. Just in case sizing is still of interest I'm 186cm tall with long legs + short torso and have an XL pine mountain.

My return to london has been delayed, apologies, work has asked me to stay in the Middle East for longer, so I won't be back until week beginning the 21st.

Understand if this is too long for people to wait, but I'm happy to organise selling stuff when I'm back.
