As for what you go for next, modding a gaggia is fun, but it would be much nicer to just have something that can produce a consistent shot without having to modify....there's nowt consistent about my gaggia, though I'm sure that will change when I lower the output pressure and fit a pid...

Let me know what happens with your gaggia, it seems like they're very fixable though if it's anything consumable like the 3-way valve...

Got more toys today....

I was in a hurry to get some good beans, and the coffee shop across the road had these, so I picked up 1kg to start with :) It's over 2 years since I put all my coffee stuff in storage and have just taken it out now that I've the space in my new flat, so it'll take some playing around with grind, tamp, brew, etc again til I get it right.

I've not had hasbeans since they were in the old school all orange packaging, but I'll have to try some agin.

What do you use @dan?

Haha I'm not too fussed about wide rims, I just want something that's readily available off the shelf when I need it....that said if wide rims are easily got then I'll happily go with them....after all I do generally ride 25mm tyres on the road :)

And yeah, they'll probably be 32 spoke.

@ugosantalucia what would you recommend for a 32 spoke training/commuting wheelset, that might see the odd road race if I feel like I've gone around in circles too much?

Looking into getting a general winter/commuting/bashing around wheelset for my road bike, something handbuilt, most likely open pro's on a shimano hub....but which hub?

Is there any discernible difference between 5800/6800/9000 hubs? If it's too early in each series lifeline to judge, was there a big difference between 5700/6700/7900 hubs? Enough of a difference to warrant paying the premium for the next level up?

I dropped my gear to a 48x15 for this last week, it was hard work keeping with the lads that were still running their race gears....but I can only assume it's good for me if it hurts, right?
