I see. Actually it might be a bit more complicated, since you'd technically be gifting property B to your wife, some lite reading here: https://www.taxinsider.co.uk/681-How_to_Correctly_Gift_Property_to_Spouses.html

Sounds like there are some CGT implications, and stamp duty may even be payable, which of course would be a huge bummer. Best to speak to a tax advisor...

AFAIK you'd need to tell your mortgage company, and then get the deeds changed.
Only major consideration is whether mortgage provider deems you both separately able to afford each mortgage- pretty sure you'd need to be reevaluated. Might be different criteria for Buy to Let, if that's what you've got on the one you're letting.
In case it's relevant, it's not always possible to keep things separate for tax purposes once you're married.

Thanks - my son is erm.. 5 months, but due to the 'never moving again' clause we have to work out our options now. Sounds like there are quite a lot of decent primary schools but only 2 main secondary schools in the area (FH for boys and Sydenham for girls).
Obviously it's so far into the future who knows what it'll all look like when it actually matters.
Beckenham and Bromley - find them pretty hard to get excited about, but wife's main reasons: bigger gardens, better schools, further from inner city bad influences. With her on the first one, maybe the second, not so sure about the last one.
Prospect of a 30 mile round trip daily commute ;(

Interesting, was going to dredge this thread too.
Planning to move somewhere soon, but currently having a bit of a battle as to how far out we move... I want Forest Hill, she wants Bromley... so maybe it'll end up being Sydenham/Beckenham.
Any thoughts on the schools round there? I read there are some good ones, but since my wife is adamant we never move again, kind of need to cover primary and secondary (and assume that nothing will change in 10 years...)
