I'm in the same boat (though L2ing at the end of he month) and was planning to take the bike in bits via the underground when the weather is wet, and getting a decent bag to carry track-only wheels on my back if I am riding in good weather. But its 20+ miles each way, so not sure how that will work out.

Aye, picked up the frame, forks, CK headset and wheels. Paint was all bubbled on the rear triangle but the metal underneath is sound. I won a tange lugged stem and bars off hubjub in an instagram competition, Essex white but ties in with the white Romin saddle really well :)
Hope to have it all finished up for spring, I'll be hiring the condors up at LVV in the meantime. -

I remembered I had an old photobucket account which I've not accessed for 5-6 years, found these which were taken about 10 years ago with my Pentax ME. I'm going to hunt around tonight and see if I can find the originals, I'm sure the scanner / my lack of understanding at the time didn't help with the overexposure.

Instagram competition winnings came through the post this morning. Well chuffed! The lugged stem is frickin awesome. Many thanks @Drew_Hubjub!

Yes, I've experienced this. By the time I got it out my eye it was just black mush. Having its entire insides emptied out into my eye made it burn for a few days. Probably some nasty germs on it too which wouldn't have helped.
I'm the guy riding round Richmond Park at dusk with shades on for this very reason. -

Picked up Bob tonight, my velodrome project for the winter. The paint on the rear, mostly the seat stays, was very bubbled and came off with a thumb nail scratch. Quite a bit of water was sitting under the paint but couldn't have been there for long as the metal underneath was mostly still shiny and no major corrosion.
Now to decide whether to rattlecan the rear with as close a match blue (masking off the chrome dropouts and ends of the stays), or just rub with a wire brush to get the last of the loose paint off and clear coat leaving it looking quite ratty. -
@rogan at the end of brick lane for the Bob transaction tonight. Thank you, sir!

From one of the regional event officers at BC this morning:
"Unfortunately British Cycling do not insure “Fixed” gear races, therefore it’s unlikely we will register this event"
So, James Pope would know about this, I could try and find a contact for him.
Who organised the Nottingham event this year? -
-
No, not this year
Problems with open door policy... http://www.lfgss.com/conversations/203884/
I'd prefer a fastest lap qualifier format. -
At least they do have a female race (I over looked "girl" as a European translation thing) whilst RHC only did that this year. "Man against Man" and "Last Man Standing"... Yes, it is sexist, but they are age old sayings and are rooted into our culture of language... If you want to change anything, start with the little things, not something that is centuries old.
How to get over it? Immerse yourself in something positive. I highly recommend talking to the ladies at Shefix in Riga, Latvia. They type pretty good English and are very approachable about what they do. -
So we only had the 2 fixed crits in the UK this year?
Id have no idea how to make one happen, I'd presume the amount of hoops to jump is huge. But we have a bc registered club now, surely that would make life easier and more legit, or does bc not like fixed crits?
Lfgss fixed crit for next summer? Rye house go kart track too small? Good facilities. Or north weald airfield... Approach the VW bugfest or something?
Maybe somekind of sponsored concession to get some Europeans to fly over...
I'm thinking out loud. -
From the Epsom cc group email this weekend :
"Hope you are well. just thought i would email you so you could possibly pass information on to other members.
Josh went out for a ride this morning by himself and unfortunately had a couple of incidents along his route.
One being that someone in a van threw something at him fortunately it didn't hit him! The other incident, which i have reported to the police involved a man in his 60'S near the pub called The Tree on Boxhill road. The man was walking a small dog possibly a Jack Russell and he threw a handful of drawing pins into Josh's path. Josh has seen this man here before so i'm sure it is not the first time this has happened. The police said it was important to let others know about the incident and encourage others to report it to the police if this happens again. The police can then build up a better picture and they are then more able to act upon the information.
I also think riders should be wary of this particular individual as he is obviously not thinking about the consequences of his actions.
I do hope there are not more reports of incidents like this." -

Was that Stefania's? She gets desgena frames anyway but probably has to fund her own RHC entry / flights / accommodation etc, plus she seems to travel around to all the smaller crits too.
