Got married 2 weeks ago. Second time around and me and the new Mrs have most of the things a couple could want (including 5 kids!).
Anyway - tackling the wedding gift issue and not wanting yet another spiraliser set we suggested folks give us a vinyl album from their personal collection, from a charity shop or as a last resort a new pressing. Wow! What a good idea that turned out to be - no dupes - much Bowie - N Soul - Talking Heads - Stevie W - and the list goes on - 70 plus albums that mean something to the giver and to me and my wife. Just in case you're thinking of tying the knot................ -
I getcha Scrabble. Wearing full on body hugging Cinelli top and shorts with a Bell Helmet strapped to my head and mounted with a flashing Exporsure Diablo I stopped in a box alongside a cycling girl this morning; she in a really colourful summer dress and a cardigan to match (unbuttoned). Her bejewelled sandals and bracelet set off the entire ensemble. Pink helmet in her handlebar mounted basket. I thought...'What dooo yooooo look like?' Actually she looked great. Feck.

Slept well. Left later than usual from E Finchley - 7.45 - Muswell Hill Wood Green Tottenham then in to the city - surprisingly light on traffic and misdemeanours. Got the bike gear spot on - long sleeved merino top and shorts. Double espresso at The Dutch Church. Quiet in the office. Something's gonna go wrong very soon......

Clipped a schoolgirl on Kingsland Rd - this morning. Shouldered her as I passed. She had headphones in and actually looked in the opposite direction to oncoming traffic as she stepped out into the S-bound bus lane. She had a helluva shock as I yelled and then knocked into her. I had a gentle chat - she knew what she had done wrong. If I'd been a motorcyclist or maybe a car she'd be in AnE right now. As it was we both escaped only shaken.

Yes - on Kingsland Road South approaching the lights at the junction with Old Street I'm in the bus lane. Lorry jinks left into the bus lane crossing the single hard white line and clouts my head with his wing mirror. That's how quickly it happened. His excuse for not seeing me (btw I wear an Exposure Diablo helmet mounted on flash) was 'One of your blokes hit my wing mirrors and I was pulling over to adjust them back again'. Priceless. Got his number - and pics - and phoned his employers. No damage done but I was shaken up. He was sorry and not rude but what a sh*t manoeuvre.

I was beeped from behind on Holloway Rd last night. Flashed the Vs to whoever was behind me. She (for the driver was a she) overtook me and stopped at red lights. I slowed down at the passenger window which was opening. She said she had beeped me to tell me I was pulling out to overtake a parked car. I said I knew I was pulling out to overtake a parked car. Yes she said - but I just wanted to let you know. Thanks lady.

Irritates me - RLJ'ing and overstepping the ASL. And sometimes I have a quite word with a smile and ask 'Why?' That always surprises the guilty party because they are expecting a rant. I never question their answer. I just say 'Really? You have decided it's safe to jump a red light? OK. New one on me. Thanks.'
