I'm wondering if I need to reconsider my compost making.
Some areas of the USA are well known for being free of snails, (but not slugs),
due to the lack of chalk/limestone/calcium carbonate, from which snails make their shells. Here in outer west London there is a thick layer, (>20M), of London Clay overlaying the
chalk basin that underlies all of London, so there is no readily available natural source of
calcium carbonate, but I reckon I am encouraging, and supporting an unnatural over population of snails, as we routinely put eggshells, (which chickens make from the same chalk/limestone/calcium carbonate), in the compost! So two options:
put the eggshells in the 'long term' compost bin, (where the slow to compost material, or stuff that compost worms do not like is left for a couple of years), which is then only used when deep composting a raised bed,
or,
(which will take more effort), incorporate the (now crushed) egg shells into the mixed seed/fat winter bird food we put out from roughly now onwards,
as in those same chalk deficient areas in the USA, some songbirds have their brood size limited by the local lack of chalk. -
Hardly matters the face on the label,
the totality of Tory policies the team behind him will promote
will continue to be as toxic to London as Boris' administration.
The greenish tinge to his image will not stop the plundering of public assets,
or improve the provision of affordable housing. Also noted the low key MSM coverage of this £1-entry fee election.

Not trying to do Pragma, who has shown him/herself to be positive member of the Forum, out of a sale,
but,
if you are laying your own concrete, are you incorporating any rebar, (reinforcing steel rod)?
If yes, you could easily thread the rebar through some large dimension chain, (which would emerge from your concrete floor), to give you a flexible anchor point.
I have also pondered those large steel eyebolts that are used to secure scaffolding to buildings. -

Thank you introducing me to aliefs.
Had precisley one of the examples,
up the TV Tower in Shanghai on the acrylic walkway.
Knew engineers had ensured the clear acrylic sheeting was thick enough to support my weight,
and much more besides,
only way I could walk round was to make sure my every footstep covered some of the supporting steelwork. Also have had the 'going to fail this exam' dream/nightmare,
but it is a Physics exam, (I graduated in Chemistry),
and,
the 1st year Physics exam I DID fail, (in '79), was subsequently passed in a re-sit!
So the dream/nightmare relives something that did happen,
and passed with little consequence! -

32 inch?
I stayed out of the flatscreen tvs on prncipal,
too power hungry, (plasma),
2 year warranty,
sloth,
convincing myself I didn't watch that much TV,
but like you with 'widescreen' broadcasts leaving black bands top'n'bottom on our old 22 inch 4:3 Toshiba, none of us could see the miniscule text during sport.
Eventually cracked and was looking for about a 40 inch to fit chimney breast.
Turned out local Tesco superstore had not-online offer of a vanilla HD 47 inch Toshiba for £400 last summer with free 5 year guarantee. Other deciding factor was the 3 hdmi inputs.
(The cheaper or lower series of branded tvs, assembled in the Vestel factory in Turkey, tend to have just 1 or 2 hdmi sockets). Small consideration but it means hdmi cables can be left permanently plugged in for son's games console and media player, in addition to the hdmi feed from the BT Youview box.
Consumes 44W compared to >100W for the old crt Toshiba, so I can tell myself I am saving money with each programme we watch. -
I signed up for BT TV nearly 2 years ago,
reckoning the 'free' Youview box would be cheaper than buying outright.
Initially attracted by the BT/ESPN Baseball coverage,
then delighted by the UK Eurosport cycling coverage, (all the adverts initially stated it was only the premium UKEurosportHD channels that would have live coverage).
You have to keep up with the Channel changes, ( no end of 'new' QVC type channels to be deleted).
It's no S4y Atlantic but the BT/AMC channel shows Bt are trying to compete with 'original drama'.
The Youview box developped a pink/purplish background tint that no calls to Customer services in India could remedy. An email to the CEO's office brought a swift response of a replacement box 'in the post'.
Over the air updates of the Youview box have caused preset record requests to be lost,
and, the 'internet only' channels have disappeared, but a power cycle of the YouView box and the BT HomeHub5 have always resurrected them.
8/10 would subscribe again. -

I reckon that is England done, (3 - 20),
as the parade of replacements hasn't helped in previous matches.
