use spray paint manufactured for graffiti....quality is infinitely higher than plastikote/painterstouch/any other shit spray paint found in b&q/homebase/wickes.
although i have no experience of using it on a bike/over powdercoat.

Apparently the diagonal ones are a piece of piss to get in and out of (by twisting your foot round a bit) which is a major reason for going for those.

Yeah i was thinking that...
had a go on my mates horizontal restraps and found them a bit of a pain.
so if the diagonal ones are easier to get in and out of, do they still offer the same strength of foot retention as the horizontal? if so im getting diagonals :)
