No matter how much someone tries to convince you of the benefits of snake blood or liquor, do yourself a favour and just say no! (Unless of course you want to venture to the dark side.)
Also be careful of the kooks who sell dog meat at their restaurants. It's a real danger, I tell ya. More so in the winter because of its purported 'warming' properties.
I shudder to think of the weird and not so wonderful things my countrymen consider to be delicacies.
dim sung but more fancy and damper ?!
It's exactly that! It's like Norther Chinese dim sum!

Today two drivers endangered my life intentionally. One was a bus driver.
If there's anything that I learn every single hour I spend on the roads, it's that stupidity and cruelty have no limits. It is literally around every single corner.
Whistle to ride another day. keep your eyes open and stay safe!

Spilled water (oh nooos) on my My Macbook Pro months ago and the keyboard was messed up. Finally got around to fixing it by replacing the keyboard and it seems to think the shift key is depressed all the time. It's only letting me type in shift variations. D'oh. I want to sob. My precious might be SOL.

Just picked up this Robin Williamson 21 speed. Fixing it up for a friend. Lovely 531 frame and forks. Set of Mavic 36h A719s built onto Shimano 105s (dear lord so heavy.)

Anyone heard of this brand before? I think it's a local builder. There was also a Claud Butler (1970s I think) complete bike for £50 but it really needed a lot of TLC as well as a new wheelset.
So far I've taken off the fenders, rear rack, stem and saddle post. Searching for some brake levers, drop bars, saddle post and saddle.
Got to move the shifters up to the stem as my friend's not happy with having to reach down to shift. I told her I'd try but not to blame me if it turned out be a total wreck :P

I don't think the average person would see Wiggin's success on the pro circuit and immediately think 'I'm going to start cycling to and from work on a £5k+ bike, fully outfitted in lycra!'
Most of us do not give these things so much thought. I'm still not convinced pro cycling will have a significant impact on encouraging more people to commute on their bike but one can hope. What's not helping is Wiggins pushing helmets on cyclists. I think that only dissuades certain would-be riders.

Wonder if this rider had called out what would've happened instead:

Oh my gosh. :( Must have been the incident by the Olympic Park? Was there no box?

tell us what the xiaolongbao is ?! before it gets ordered !
It's a small pork bun, a little like a dumpling. It comes steamed and is usually served by the dozen inside a small bamboo steamer basket. You have to pick it up with your chopsticks (gently!) and place it in your spoon before nibbling at the top and drinking the soup inside and finally eating it.
Delicate and involved process but well worth the effort!

Don't know too much about hotels :( but I'm Chinese and I'd say that £100 a night is on the pricey side even for Shanghai.
Sohi's idea is a great one. If you stay at a serviced apartment you won't be tempted to eat the overpriced food at hotels. Shanghai (and China in general) has some of the best and cheapest food in the world! Be sure you try the xiaolongbao.
It's very easy to stray in a big city like Shanghai but I'm convinced that the most authentic experience is the one where you spend the least amount of money.

Thanks everyone for your input! I found a great place in E1 just off the north side of Commercial St near Brick Ln. Does anyone know the area well? Don't really know the first thing about London so would love to hear if anyone has any good (or bad) things to say about the area.
Seems nice enough, close to Wapping and the city, really close to 2 tube stations. A bit further away from any parks than I'd like but I don't think the dog would mind :P

I bought some cheap Tyre Flys from eBay. They're pretty awful. I'd have to pedal like a mad man over a very bumpy road for the lights to remain on. On the bright side, it was very cheap.
Might get some 3M spoke reflectors like the ones Lidl sometimes do. I have a big fear of having my bike piranha'd so I'd like accessories to be either removable or unworthy of being stolen.

I currently live in a flat in Edinburgh that is owned by a family member. Moving down to London in about 2 months time and have no idea how to go about renting with a dog in tow.
Can I be honest with real estate agents? It seems every time I mention I have a dog they simply say 'no'. Even if I offer to put down a fat deposit and clean the carpet/paint the walls before moving.
Anyone have any experience feel like sharing some tips?

Hi, does anyone have any tips on this commute route? I will be riding from E2 (Bow/Victoria Park) to SE14 New Cross for university.
The most direct route is about 6 miles each way and follows the A1205 to the Rotherhithe tunnel then the A200 to New Cross.
No idea what this tunnel might be like. Sounds really frightening.
Any thoughts?

Had a bit of a search around the web and discovered that Robin Williamson owns Biketrax in Bruntsfield. Doesn't seem to be selling his own brand anymore though. At least I didn't see any when I was there a couple of weeks ago.
Will get back to you on the brakes DFP. Have not decided what I'm doing with them yet. I did get around to switching out the stem and bars though. Looking much prettier now.
