flint catchers, they stop sharp things becoming embedded in your tyres.
Ta. Another bit of bike knowledge.
Just looking at the picture slightly gives me the jibblies as I've heard of incidents where the brake cable snapped, dumping the straddle cable into the tyre tread and causing an unplanned crash stop and subsequent superman impression over the bars. I got into the habit of zip-tying my straddle cable hanger to the hole in the fork crown as a result.

The slide should be on the other side of the stairway for a gentler corner, and much more heavily banked in the corners. And lube.
Then it would get in the way of the doors leading off the landings (I can't see a problem with the lube though).
The desription on the website says that it "uses no electricity to implement in a domino effect". Presumably that means that it is folded against the bannister and then if you pull down the topmost section it flips out all the sections below in domino fashion, which is pretty cool

^ Yes, you wouldn't want to grab the front brake in a panic, with that much mechanical advantage you'd just lock the wheel and endo.
Little modulation either.Wouldn't you get the most mechanical advantage if the straddle cable was at 90 degrees to the line between the brake pivot (boss) and the cable clamp (the end of the cantilever arm). With the cable angles above a lot of the force would be directed towards the pivot.

Slightly misaligned ones for free here which might be cold-settable. I think the steerer is 247mm.

Campag Avanti ok? Good condition but non-original cable clamp bolt. £5 on my clearout thread

I've got some for free here if you want them. They're basic Raleigh forks off an Equipe, so not stupidly large clearances. They've taken a knock and so are slightly misaligned but the blades aren't creased (I'm riding the frame they came with) so it's possible they could be cold set. Feel free to take them away to assess.

There is a bit before that, where he physically can't keep the wheels on the ground, just keeps blowing horizontally ! believe a guy from the car has to help him get it to that ^ point
I can't work out why he doesn't just walk round the other side of the bike so it's just blown against his legs. Surely that would make his life a whole lot easier.

I've got a really cheap adjustable ahead stem here if you really want to experiment.

**NOW GONE! **
Old Cannondale 56cm square steel frame up for grabs on my clearout thread here. Rusty but sound, good candidate for stripping and rattlecanning.
Matching seatpost available for £5
1" Raleigh steel forks also up for free. These have been bent but perhaps could be cold-set or used for something else.
Need to be picked up in London.
